I give when ever I can

O-

Babies love my blood... and they always call to 'remind' you of that.

If giving blood is anything like giving plasma, I will be insanely slow.

They call for my blood constantly too, i'm O- as soon as the date that I can give again comes they call me every day, they even cycle, 10 am, 4pm 7pm, so they cant miss the time when I'm available. Its like zombies but they want blood instead of brains, and they're friendlier.

I want to donate blood tomorrow. I was rejected last time due to iron poor blood. What can I do today to boost my odds of being accepted as a blood donor?

If you got your tattoo in NC, you're okay to donate.

^lentils, pumpkin seeds, spinach, beef, with OJ. Really, you should have started on this before now.

Men who have had sex with men are not supposed to donate. Nor are women who have had sex with a man who has had sex with a man.

^^ Gay is contagious

Actually, you're more likely to spread AIDS via anal sex than vaginal intercourse because the rectum is more susceptible to tearage.

Well, strap-ons work too. But it's harder to spread AIDS with a strap-on.

Haven't given since '07. An unfortunate turn of events turned me off to donating blood until I pass PE101 this time.

Type O negative is used in case of emergency when the recipient's blood type is not yet clear.

We're arguing semantics, so before this goes any further...

Your own blood and somebody's blood of your exact type are preferred and used in most cases. In emergencies sure, but since it's third in the hierarchy, and used only IN emergencies, then it both makes the term "universal donor" misunderstood (and also because there's no guarantee of your body's response to such blood), and overused.

^^ And only retards assume that type O negative should be given to anyone at any time. My argument is valid.

the red cross seems to think my blood is somehow contaminated because i've done it with another dude.

that hasn't stopped me from giving blood, however.

Tomorrow we get free cookies and OJ plus a gift certificate to a hair salon PLUS a free breakfast at a local breakfast place PLUS a tote, even if we get rejected. I'm sure as heck going to try to donate, even if I get rejected again.

so they won't take gay people's blood (well men that have had sex with other men)?? because of the risk of AIDS or something?

can someone explain.

Because there are uninformed bigots/uneducated fearmongers in the places where decisions are made.

That's about it.

ok just making sure i wasn't the only one who was like "???"

if we exclude gay people shouldn't we include all groups who have either an actual or stereotypically higher risk and/or rate of AIDS? I mean all of Washington DC probably shouldn't give blood.

^ Agreed. Blood from DC sounds much more dangerous, based on AIDS statistics.

Well, you're already not supposed to donate if you've ever paid for sex or been paid for sex, or are an IV drug user.

So they're already doing some of what you're thinking.
