Yeah, the foaming moonbats would rather launch lame attacks on me than address the implosion of the Democrat Party in a six-month period. I'll post this again since some of you seem to have ADD:
Quote : | "White House Disputes Pelosi Contention that Town Hall Protests are "Un-American"
The White House disagreed this afternoon with the contention by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Maryland, that the disruptions at town hall meetings are 'un-American,' as the Democratic congressional leaders contended in a USA Today op-ed this morning.
'I think there's actually a pretty long tradition of people shouting at politicians in America,' White House deputy press secretary Bill Burton told reporters on Air Force One when asked about the comments.
"The President thinks that if people want to come and have a spirited debate about health care, a real vigorous conversation about it, that's a part of the American tradition and he encourages that, because people do have questions and concerns ...And so if people want to come and have their concerns and their questions answered, the President thinks that's important.

As far as I can tell, that's not what the people under discussion want at all. They just want to raise a ruckus and get famous on the internets. If you want your concerns and questions answered, don't you have to give the person a chance to answer said concerns and questions?8/12/2009 10:00:48 AM |

^ Gov't politicians have more than ample opportunities to get their points out there.. talk shows, tax-payer paid mailings, and a lap-dog media.
Yea every once in a while they should have to stand there and let angry constituents vent at them. Comes with the job. 8/12/2009 10:20:33 AM |

Why ask a question if you don't care what the answer is? I would much rather people ask thought-provoking questions that stump the jerk on stage than just yell at whoever it is. Seems the former would speak volumes more about the person and their position than the latter. 8/12/2009 10:58:13 AM |

i love all these tools shouting one-liners fed by "grassroots" organizations supported by various pharmaceutical and insurance companies. their soul purpose is to not have any health care reform what-so-ever and to shut-down any debate about it. why do so many people support keeping these shit companies so rich while bankrupting hard-working americans?
our health care system is fuct and needs change. i'm not giving my support to Obama's plan yet, but the repubs and these "grassroots" organizations have offered no legitimate solution and are just trying to drown out any debate about the issue. 8/12/2009 1:36:12 PM |

^ Are you a "hard working American"? I am. I dont enjoy seeing 35% of my paycheck going out the window to pay for BS programs. Hey if you want to protect "hard WORKING Americans", why dont you advocate the repeal of income taxes.......that way, the WORKING citizens of American could climb out of debt......life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness no more!
If a town hall were held close to my house, I would attend. I'm not part of any organization supported by any company. My thought is that we do need health care reform, not universal health care. We dont need to fund abortion with tax payer money....we dont need to give illegal aliens free health care at the expense of tax payers.....If you cant see the difference between health care reform and the plan they are trying to push thru, you shouldnt be in college....... 8/12/2009 5:05:36 PM |

^ abortions aren't going to be funded with tax payer money, and illegals (as well as drug dealers, pedophiles, crack addicts, and various other "unsavory" groups ) are already implicitly getting healthcare on tax-payers money. It would be criminal to turn them away when they are in need of health care, if they didn't have money, and the hospital couldn't afford to comp them.
And if the gov. eliminated taxes, what do you propose the gov. do about the massive debt and deficit? Or do you now support the gov. running up HUGE deficits? No president in the past 100 years of taxes has come close to eliminating taxes, why do you think this is? Did none of the have the "enlightenment" that you have?

^^^sure, lets get rid of income tax... and let's get rid of our military, education system, roads, and utilities as well.
really though, i hate getting taxed out of the ass when there is so much wasteful spending by our entire gov't. however, i don't think supplying health care to those in need is wasteful spending. just b/c someone isn't able to get a decent paycheck, doesn't mean they should be turned away at the hospital or be in dept to their ears for the rest of their life. not sure if you have noticed, but health care is fucking expensive in this country. i'm lucky enough that my employer provides a good health care plan, but most people are not that lucky.
btw, i am a hard working american. unfortunately i've been working too fucking hard. 8/12/2009 6:46:03 PM |

I tell you what. put YOUR money where YOUR mouth is and go support these people YOURSELF, first. But, yeah, clearly americans don't give a fuck. It's not like we have homeless shelters, or free clinics, or food banks, or AIDS walks, or... We don't give tons of money in aid to Africa. We certainly don't send warehouse-loads of food to countries after natural disasters or anything...

I posted this in the other thread...but since there are two...
I was there. This did not happen. It was more or less one of these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrtSvCPaygs
It was complete with a hysterical female friend of the "punched" man shrieking in the most annoying possible faux-angry voice "He's been hit in the FACE!!!!!"
This whole thing was an unproductive joke.
The 4 "panelists" (including David Price) took up the first 1:05 of the 1:45 "town hall meeting" giving speeches, and watching as the dipshit 'moderator' used every time-consuming trick in the book to avoid starting with the questions, including straining to recognize every single elected official or former elected official in attendance. Maybe they didn't stop to think that we don't care that former one-time state senator so-and-so is standing in the back.
All of the questions were stupid. The answers were only prepackaged dodges, and there was a lot of - worthy middle-school level drama between members of the audience.
The one interesting part was when a man asked "So...Mr. _____, who were the opponents of this bill that you invited to be on the panel, who unfortunately were not able to make it tonight?" The guy outright admitted he had not asked any.
They have a right to create a bully pulpit and I don't mind that. What I mind was that they so heavily belabored the point that they were being "non-partisan" and even-handed. And that the SEANC (sponsors of the event) took no political sides and are only about helping the state employees. It's the dishonesty that grates me, not the political hackery.
And I counted....12 total questions were asked by the audience in a "town hall meeting" that ran from 645 to just past 830. 8/14/2009 2:18:15 AM |
