you might have gotten sick last time if some of what you found were the 'black' 'false' morel. they don't make everyone sick but i know they can make some people sick. apparently it is a little hard to tell the difference sometimes because the black is light.

I, too, would grow mushrooms, but I'm scared to order the kind that I want over the internet.

Matsutakes! Most of them are probably too big to be delicious.Best Chanterelle season in over 10 years:[Edited on November 7, 2010 at 10:03 PM. Reason : .]

What kind of mushrooms?

^ The white ones are matsutakes - popular in Japanese dishes The orange ones are chanterelles, great in eggs, but not too flavorful.

Glad this thread was bttt.So about this time last year I was offered to buy chicken mushrooms at the farmers market for $5 a large cap. So the reason I did not buy them is the woman said she found them growing in poison ivy. Is this normal and how do you not get poison ivy all in your digestive tract?]

Yeah I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with eating mushrooms growing in poison ivy.
