i still stand by the fact that if you have something to ask me leave me a message or send a text

especially if you have all seen that I don't answer calls when I am talking with someone (I don't mind when other people do it, but I was raised that it is rude to do that)

parentheses have nothing to do with hush tone, but more to do with a phrase that isn't as important* to the rest of the sentence.

You used it correctly here

And I'm sorry that my parents raised me to not answer phones when I am in a conversation with someone. Even they get the button- but you know what? They leave a message. THAT IS WHAT VOICEMAIL WAS MADE FOR- WHEN YOU ARE UNREACHABLE OR BUSY. I don't have to defend myself, but I will continue to. Obviously the 30 other times I have done it in here, yall have just scanned over it to get to the post reply button to say "oh, brett doesn't answer all my calls, what a jack ass"
