i don't have any personal experience with online dating, but the pool for match.com in san diego must be pretty good as two close friends of mine (a girl and a guy) found long term 'matches' there that are awesome people -- though i think they each had a few crazies to wade through

I joined match and cupid around the same time. I've met 4 girls off each. They all looked like their pictures for the most part and I went out with most of these girls a second time. Apparently there are a lot of loser guys on these sites so I love the lack of competition. I have a new date tonight with a girl who has a masters and owns a place in Brier Creek. So much easier than the bar scene...

Since I was on it the other day, I've found profiles of several people I know, and well, I hate to be judgemental (no I don't), but those chicks have serious issues and it's no wonder they're on these sites. I mean, how hard can it be for a woman to meet a guy if she doesn't have these issues? Of course, this all pertains to wanting something serious or whatever, which I've stated I don't really, but I'd just hate to see these things as a pool of people like that. It's very discouraging. Then again, my latest series of interests or whatever already had boyfriends or are just as fucking crazy, so I might tap into something awesome. Hah.

Oddly enough, others in this thread have said some good things, so, on the fence I'll stay I guess...

I think she's pretty cool. I remember you back in the days of joychick. You have always struck me as a creepy dude, nothing personal. I probably would have a beer with you, but I wouldn't let you near my sister.

There are definitely some hotties on match, but the girls that I dated, they were either too shallow or had no personality. However, I've only been on 4 dates from match.

I kinda think that most people should just go to Gleenwood if they are in Raleigh. I've been having a lot of success just chatting it up.

match worked for me

99% of the guys i went out with were fairly represented in their profile as far as appearance and interests

80% of them were nice, normal, successful guys that i just didn't have an interest in once we met

20% of them were absolute HELL NOs once we met. one guy was over 15min late without explaination then ordered my meal for me and another guy got mad at me for not wanting to make plans with him for july 4th weekend (which was 3 weeks away) after our first date. etc

95% of them didn't make it to date #3 for various reasons (creepy comments and or behavior being the main reason)

my boyfriend has some crazy stories from match too, so i guess its hit or miss. my best advice is to move along as quickly as possible once you realize its not going to work with someone. also its important to get out there and go on dates with as many guys as you're interested in. there are normal people on there but i guarantee you'll meet a wack job or two along the way!
