I'm opposed to the punishment sentenced here. The life in prison part makes sense, but what good does cutting their ears and nose off do?

The only two ways to handle such egregious acts of violence are either life in prison with no possibility of release or execute them as painlessly as possible.

The point is to prevent these animals from harming innocent people again. Disfiguring, dismembering, etc. does not serve that purpose. The victim cannot be made whole again, but the best we can do is ensure that they never harm anyone else again.

Sarcasm, exactly. The de facto defense in any modern argument that holds about as much intellectual weight as feces flinging. You're basically saying "hay I can't really think of a normal retort to your argument so I'm going to pull out an extreme illustration to let you know I think you're silly. I'll also toss in a bunch of *****'s as dividers because paragraphs are pretty complicated."

Bobby I agree with you completely. Eye for an eye does nothing besides momentarily satiate a desire for revenge. If someone commits an extremely horrendous crime, a case can be made for efficient execution but state torture and mutilation as retaliation accomplishes nothing.
