I went with family recently and got something besides the burritos.

Their quesadillas are excellent, as were the tacos and chicken BBQ chipotle nachos.

Plus it snowed while we were there.

Pancho Villas in Cary is the best little taqueria you're going to find around this area. Great tacos, $1 each on taco tuesday... oh, and added bonus, mexican coke which really does taste better.

The burrito haters are on point. The tortilla to filling ratio is way too big.

The Chubby's on Lake Boone Trail was the closest one for me and was definitely one of those places that I would occasionally visit.

That said, it has lost my business to Guasaca across the street. They have some mighty fine arepas.

I have had at least 10 items (including about 4-5 different tacos at least) off of their menu and I can say that they have the best tacos in Raleigh without a doubt.

I miss Chubby's. The Lake Boone location was a frequent lunch spot for me on workdays, as I could get some delicious tacos, sit outside if it was nice, and get back to work in something resembling an hour. The "chubbychanga" was on point too.

While I'm sure there are similar places in Richmond I haven't found them yet.

I don't know what to make of everyone hating their burritos (although it seems like a lot of the burrito haters haven't actually eaten them, just looked at them). Burritos are my favorite food of all time, and I love Chubby's burritos. Tofu burrito ftw.

both times the tortilla was just too big for the fillings ... way too much bread for the amount of good shit and on top of that ... it had raw flour all over it IIRC / or at least enough to make it suck worse

I don't even like the thin shells at chipitle etc, so that thick shell that chubby's does just looks gross.

a friend of mine gets them and has a similar complaint (all shell [and rice]), though not every time.

I've always loved Chubby's burrito's. I don't think I've ever eaten one where there weren't so many fillings that it busts open about halfway through eating it. Also, never had the flour issue.

Maybe it depends on the location? Though I've been to most of them. Also, I'm with Skwinkle on the veggie burrito ... mmmm.

i'm a chipotle man myself. can't think of a raleigh burrito i like better. i really like baja's salad (made of burrito ingredients + greens/carrots/onions though. really tasty, but their burrito isn't nearly as good imo.

I ate at the Durham location twice. Never again for burritos. Absolutely terrible most bland food ever.

And I like flaming amys, moes, chipotle, etc. I even like the fucking microwave burritos at the grocery store.

Hell I like burritos so much id probably eat it if they were filled with nothing but pralines and dick.

i usually try to avoid chains, but Q'dobas kicks Chipotle's ass. I love some Q'doba burritos. Seem so much more "natural" and "healthy"

^ That's pretty misleading...not everyone gets the tortilla shell, cheese and sour cream (I get none of those). Hell if you configure the same burrito at Qdoba it's 1080 calories, 17 grams of saturated fat, and 2135 grams of sodium. Nearly identical stats.

The way I order my Chipotle chicken burrito bowl, it has 515 calories and 1410 grams of sodium.
When I configure an identical burrito at Qdoba, it's 545 calories and 1065 grams of sodium.

Definitely less sodium, but it's still a shit load of sodium either way.
