(re: TA's fumble vs UMD) ^ i think that was just a good football hit, "jack'd up!" style
i was pissed because the FB ran through the hole in front of TA and ran away from the LB
also pissed because the LB's name was leroy ambush and that is an AWESOME name for an LB
if you can stand to watch it, watch the FB run through the hole ahead of TA, poop himself, and make a hard right and hug someone

I usually don't post on TWW, usually just an observer, but this has made me want to vent...
Recruits: Football- Dorien Bryant, Terry Hunter, Devin Aromoshodu, Devin Hester Basketball- Stackhouse/McInnis, Chris Wright, Dan Werner, Mustafa Shakur, Mike Nardi, John Wall, John Gilchrist, (Steve Blake, even though I hate him), David West, Josh Howard, Sean Singletary
Games (not mentioned a lot or at all): Football- 2000 @ Maryland; Koren Robinson sits out first half (drugs are bad), we come back and go into overtime and lose. Probably would've won if he didn't do so many drugs.
Clearly, every game that Philip played against Maryland should be on this list.
2001 UNC @ CF; Troy Graham has to lean forward to get a first down to keep us in the game, but instead just shuffles and gets tackled. Turnover. Loss. (Dovonte Edwards infamous "post route")
2002 GT @ CF; Terrance Holt clearly intercepts ball and its called incomplete. 3 and out is called back for delay of game in which they throw 80 yard bomb for TD. Greg Golden drops wide open interception. Etc. You know the rest.
2004 @ CH; TA's knee.
2003-2006: Marcus Stone (pre-Tight End days)
2006-2007: Season minus FSU.
I gotta get back to work...basketball is just too much strife to write down.

2002 - @Maryland-I don't know if you all remember this, I do. Phil attempts a QB sneak, both lines jumble together, Phil see this, then takes off with what would have been an 80-yd TD, but the dipshit ref blows the play dead saying he was down. I remember the annoncers saying that was a bad call on the replay because his knee was about 6 inches above the turf. 1/7/2010 12:34:07 PM |

not exactly sports related but
my last year, ESPN wanted to do something with campout
they called me up in early december and i confirmed the dates and all with them
so we do campout and all, no ESPN people, i called them a few times but couldnt get anyone
Then the next friday afternoon, I am walking by Reynolds, and sure enough, some guys from ESPN are setting up a tent out front
Since whoever answered my calls decided I wasnt important enough to put through, obviously I wasnt important enough to tell them to stop, so I just kept walking
not sure who dropped the ball on that one, but it wasnt me] 1/7/2010 12:44:53 PM |

Yeah, throw that one in there, too. Although, I did read DT's book Skywalker and DT grew up a Charlie Scott fan. I wish that trend would have continued, but Jordan ended that UNC/NCSU trade off I guess.
Which brings up another one- Dean Smith (but really Bill Guthridge) getting the NCAA to ban us from the 1973 tourney. Undefeated and no championship to show for it.

The first NC State game I ever attended was the loss to Campbell during the '93-'94 season.
The first NC State football game I attended was a loss to Baylor at home, 1995.
The only 2 wins I remember seeing in person in the '90s were a bs game against William and Mary in football and a baseball game against Wake. The neighbor we moved next to in '93 was then-head of the Wolfpack Club, so me and my dad got to sit courtside for some great blowouts against teams like FSU and Maryland and UNC games that ended with Serge Zwikker spitting at the student section.

Did anyone mention the blatent Hodge ballsack punch by Chris Paul. Hodge falls to the floor in a heap, there is no call by the officials. wtf?" |
Don't know if the "wtf?" is to me hating Steve Blake or the fact that we lost out on him. So:
1) Yes, I hate Steve Blake. That guy got away with so much handchecking, douchebaggery, and bogus shots. Other than Juan Dixon, I hated that whole era of UMD bball. Lonnie Baxter was a punk, Terrance Morris looked like a terp, no doubt in my mind that Steve Williams bought Chris Wilcox to play there, Drew Nicholas, Byron Mouton, etc.
2) Steve Blake played for Chris Corchiani's dad at Miami Killian. All we had to do was offer the guy and we would've had him. I actually found this clip (Baltimore Sun?)
"Blake was rated among the top 50 to 75 players in the nation after a high school career split between Florida and Virginia's Oak Hill Academy. He was being groomed by former N.C. State guard Chris Corchiani, a family friend, to play for the Wolfpack. Corchiani even took him to meet then-coach Herb Sendek, but the N.C. State coaching staff showed only lukewarm interest, and Blake enrolled at Maryland."1/7/2010 4:35:55 PM |
hershculez All American 8483 Posts user info edit post |
You hating Steve Blake is a little ridiculous in my opinion. Especially since basketball is just a game. Hating that we did not offer him and he went somewhere else is perfectly reasonable.

Sabatination Veteran 123 Posts user info edit post |
I never said I hate Steve Blake as a person, but I do as a basketball player from UMD. It's hard to put him on that list of "guys we shouldve had" with the emotional ties from that rivalry. I was in 8th grade during the start of his career and living in Maryland as a huge NC State fan. So, I have dealt with some UMD fans in my time. I would say my hatred for UMD is almost as great as UNC, especially after the Lonnie Baxter flop on DT3, the UMD football players stomping our logos and running into our band members, Nick Caner-Medley, etc. With all that said, Steve Blake was a great player for UMD that we could have had in place of Clifford Crawford...or even beside him. And no, I don't hate UNC's education system, I hate their bball and football teams. 1/7/2010 4:58:27 PM |

It was Tony Bethel, and omfg I have never been so pissed off over a call in my life. That happened right in front of me, I was sitting on the front row literally about 5 feet towards half court and Ted fucking valentine blows his whistle from the opposite sideline with absolutely no angle to see if he was inbounds or not and said he was out. Total horse shit. Someone posted a picture from the near sideline showing Valentine with his hand up running over there and Bethel in bounds by about 3 feet. I wish I could find it.
