I really want to play some ultimate. Skwinkle and I tried to get a game together last fall, but it never materialized. Daytime and weekends work for me if anyone else is interested.

I've been hit several times- twice within 2 minutes of each other on the same hole (first at the top of hole 17 at kentwood coming from hole 7's tee pad, and then at the bottom of hole 17 from a girl in our own group who just didn't know what she was doing, and I wasn't paying attention to her as she had no earthly reason to be throwing a disc anywhere near my direction)

one of them left me a good welt on the side of the head, and the other gave me a fat lip... FULL CONTACT DISC GOLF!!

A friend of mine took one right in the front teeth and had one knocked out. The guy yelled FOUR as my buddy was on the ground in pain.

I was playing with a friend at Kentwood years ago, he teed off on 7, hit a tree on the right, split the disc in half, and one half flew straight into the upper lip of a guy on 17s tee. Small cut, nothing bad. He was pretty pissed until he realized what happened. (I still would have been pissed - if you're gonna hit a tree of of the pad, you're just a few inches away from hitting a person instead.)

You really should look at playing in some of the local tournaments they have here every week. They should be starting up soon (just google raleigh area disc league). I used to play in them when i played all the time. You will meet some cool folks, and have the opportunity to win some gear and possibly be invited to play some private tournaments at courses that are owned by individuals (so anything goes). Im gonna start doing the tournys at kaplan when they start back up. They are a blast, and when you get an ace, you get paid!

yeah

they rank you either amateur (what almost everyone who plays casually would be), advance, and pro's


and amateurs get paired with either a pro or advance players, and you play captains choice (the individuals tournaments typically go on during the weekends)


It is a lot of fun. I have had boxes full of discs that I won at these tournaments (that I've since given to people who showed interest in the game to get them start), as well as some bags and other junk I've gotten. It's just a fun way to spend an evening (usually goes from about 6 until 8ish)

guess it didn't post. Anyway, had a great day out there (alot better than I did out on the real golf course earlier today )

Putting was on point today- even had a 40 footer on my knees from under a tree... Feeling good to start getting in on the tournaments (think I only shot 5 under today, but being that this was only my 5th round since my 2 year hiatus, I'm not upset about that in the slightest)

I miss the KWood dubs. It was even better back in the intermediate days. It was a well run event. I don't miss getting a partner that can't do anything and I have to try to shoot a 14 down myself however.

theres usually a game up at the IM fields at ncsu on mondays 5ish pm...either on the lower or upper fields. all are welcome, and the setup is with a bunch of orange cones, so its hard to miss. not sure how/where we gonna play during the summer

By all means go to the weekly doubles at Kentwood and Cedar Hills. If you suck, this is the very best way to improve your game. It's very casual, so your partner won't mind if you suck, and he'll probably be really helpful with tips and strategy.
