Yeah that sounds pretty ridiculous.

What is the skin plate?

Yea, I really wish they'd charge like 3.99 for the biscuit. If they're not cheaper than Bojangles then they can forget my business... I mean really, it's not hard. They're making those biscuits factory style, and they'd be making a ton of profit on 'em.

bullshit they're not lasting

time-out has been open forever

it's probably silly to open this one as the semester is ending, but they make money hand over fist after 2

any night PB's is open, forget it

people are all about that shit

I'm still eating here within the week, just so we're all clear. Enough people have said the food was worthwhile, despite the fact that others have boo'd it. In either case, I still need to get in my culinary review--and I'm honestly not that hard to please when it comes to greasy comfort foods.

The only thing I noticed is the biscuit is like 2x the size of any other biscuit, like its the size of a burger from Hardees. The manager told me she always laughs when people order two because they do not know what they are getting in to, they make the second one to go.

Went there about an hour ago. Biscuits are not as large as people may have them seem. They are fairly big, however. Food was pretty good overall, but the fried okra was cold. The fake mashed potatoes are on par with Bojangles, but the mac 'n cheese is pretty good. I got the chicken BBQ, and thought it was pretty good. All in all, for a place that's open 24 hours, it's pretty decent.

Just got a chicken cheddar and sausage egg and cheese because I could not decide. Ate one, put the other in fridge for later.

Generally, I buy two kinds of food:
- super-cheap low quality
- fairly expensive high quality

I'm not sure that Time-Out fits either... It appears to be fairly expensive middle quality.
If everything on the menu was $1 cheaper, or if most of it was local or organic, I might consider it.

probably the worst thing possible for someone to eat- but a drunk/high persons wet dream. At the Time-Out in Chapel Hill, they take all the fried chicken skins that fall off the meat (as well as the extra breading) and instead of throwing it away, they serve it up as a dish (as is available)... looks gross, and probably a heart attack on a plate, but wow, is it good (and I remember it being only like 3 bucks, and it'll fill you up)

I have friends in CH that get the box of bones as well. Seems a little less damaging than the skin plate.

I even invented a dish called Hot Skins (as in Hot Wings)

Hot Skins
----------------
butter, melted
Texas Pete
raw chicken skin
salt
fryer oil

Mix equal parts melted butter and Texas Pete in a very large bowl.
Chop up the skins into medium-sized pieces and toss with a little salt.
Deep fry until crispy. Drain. Toss in the sauce. Serve.

Look, all these haters be hatin', because I just had an awesome dining experience. I had two chicken-cheddar-egg (the egg is more like a little omelet they put on it) biscuits and they were fantastic! I giggled when I saw them just grab a thigh and pull the bone out--no nasty fillets or anything, just awesome chicken and accessories.

Of course, cheese and egg together means +2.00 to each biscuit. That is crazy, stupidly crazy. They HAVE to at least lower cheese to .50--I mean it's a fucking sprinkle of greasy cheddar, why is that worth a dollar? I mean, I kind of understand the egg (ton of it on there), but the cheese? Hell no.

I like the place. If I walk out of EV or FH at 2am there's no way I'm gonna say, "well, let's all pile into the car and drive to Bojangles because their biscuit is a dollar cheaper and half as big!!" no, i'm gonna stumble over to Time-Out and eat a 1000 calorie biscuit and a sweet tea. Sure, it isn't the best food in the world but it's certainly on par with anything else you can find at 2am.

I tried the Chicken and Cheddar biscuit at Time-Out this morning. It was ok. It's not worth the $5. They need to lower prices some if they want good business.

Though they sometimes don't have fried okra when I want it, I'm almost always satisfied if they have mac n cheese and mashed potatoes with gravy.

For the amount of food you get with a bbq plate, it is quite reasonable. A bbq plate is pretty much enough for 2 meals.

BBQ is reasonable compared to the price for biscuits and such.

I will say that much.

Also, I like how ANY CRITICISM AT ALL = YOU MUST NOT LIKE IT.

Interesting.

see. i ALWAYS want fried okra. but sometimes theirs is soggy. but since i only eat here drunk (i'm so classy and healthy) i usually don't mind. BUT when there isn't any fried okra to be found i am also satisfied with mac n cheese. except i do green beans with it!

but i like the 3 side thing cause that comes with a biscuit. i either do: 2x okra 1 mac n cheese. 1 mac, 1 okra, 1 green bean. or worst case scenario, 1 mac n cheese 2x green beans.

then i usually end up feeding 1/2 of what i get to my dog because i realize that i'm not actually as hungry as i think.

Hillsborough st does not have enough night activity to support this place 24-7.

They should have gotten a drive through and I would eat there more.

The primary appeal of this place was that it was open all the time and in walking distance from the bars. The only times I ever frequented Time-Out was between 2:30am and 6am.
