Posted this in the UT thread as well, but since only a few people look there, I thought this would be a better place to put this. Looks like the UNC-UT games for 2011-2012 aren't going to happen.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5469770

Quote :
"KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The scheduled series between North Carolina and Tennessee, which was to be played in 2011 and 2012, will likely be shelved.

Tennessee athletic director Mike Hamilton said Monday night that nothing has been finalized, but that the two sides are currently in the process of trying to work out a contract buyout.

With an already demanding schedule in 2011, Tennessee had requested that the North Carolina series be pushed back until later this decade, according to Hamilton. But the Tar Heels weren't interested in moving the series, leading to the current talks centered around Tennessee paying a penalty to get out of the series and nixing it all together.

Tennessee was scheduled to play in Chapel Hill in 2011 with North Carolina scheduled to come to Knoxville in 2012. The Vols' 2011 nonconference schedule also includes Cincinnati, and Hamilton said he wanted to "break up" that stretch of games that starts with Cincinnati the second week of the season and then includes trips to Florida and North Carolina followed by home games against Georgia and LSU and then a trip to Alabama.

With North Carolina likely to come off Tennessee's schedule, Hamilton said the plan was to add an eighth home game during the 2011 season against a non-BCS team.

Tennessee opens the 2011 season against FCS power Montana, which was a recent replacement for North Texas."

Since I live in SC and am surrounded by Cock fans, I'll do my prediction on their season.

09/02/10 vs. Southern Miss Columbia, S.C. 7:30 p.m. ET W
09/11/10 vs. Georgia Columbia, S.C. 12:00 p.m ET L
09/18/10 vs. Furman Columbia, S.C. 7:00 p.m. ET W
09/25/10 at Auburn Auburn, Ala. TBA L
10/09/10 vs. Alabama Columbia, S.C. TBA L
10/16/10 at Kentucky Lexington, Ky. TBA W
10/23/10 at Vanderbilt Nashville, Tenn. TBA W
10/30/10 vs. Tennessee Columbia, S.C. TBA W
11/06/10 vs. Arkansas Columbia, S.C. TBA W
11/13/10 at Florida Gainesville, Fla. TBA L
11/20/10 vs. Troy Columbia, S.C. TBA W
11/27/10 at Clemson Clemson, S.C. TBA W

8-4, solid bowl game, likely leading to a parade in Columbia and lifetime contract for Spurrier.

I know they'll manage to fold somehow, but they SHOULD win all the games I have them winning and they should also beat Georgia, but as a former Bulldog fan, I could never pick the Cocks over the Dawgs.

they should not win in Death Valley.

South Carolina has not beaten Clemson in consecutive years since a three-game winning streak in the 1968-70 era.

a pretty remarkable statistic. and it aint gonna change this year

talk that BYU may leave the MWC and go independent in football and join the WAC for all other sports

http://www.ksl.com/?nid=272&sid=11802079
http://bit.ly/9vMqhr

that would pretty much nuke the MWC and end any chance of them getting a BCS bid.

TRESPASSING NAKED

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=5491740

Quote :
"CORVALLIS, Ore. -- An Oregon State University offensive lineman has been dismissed from the team after police say they found him naked and intoxicated in a stranger's home and had to use stun guns to take him into custody.

Corvallis police say they received the call about a naked intruder early Sunday.

Responding officers ordered 19-year-old Tyler Patrick Thomas of Kalispell, Mont., to get on the ground, Lt. Tim Brewer said.

Thomas refused and instead dropped into a three-point stance like a football player and lunged at the officers, Brewer said. At that point, he said, two officers fired their stun guns.

Brewer said Thomas "absolutely was intoxicated" at the time.

Thomas was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass, criminal mischief and resisting arrest. He was booked into the Benton County jail and later released.

A home phone listing for Thomas couldn't be found.

Oregon State coach Mike Riley dismissed Thomas from the team Monday, OSU athletics spokesman Steve Fenk said. Thomas redshirted during the Beavers' 2009 season."

Ohio State president Gordon Gee told the Dayton Daily News he is in favor of a plan that would put the Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines in separate divisions when the Big Ten reorganizes.

The conference added Nebraska as a 12th member, which will force scheduling changes. Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez has said expansion to nine games in conference will happen in 2015.

Gee is also in favor of a schedule in which Michigan and Ohio State would not play the final game of the regular season, as is tradition.

The Buckeyes' fan base may not be in line with the president.

Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith told The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer he has received about 350 fan e-mails -- 90 percent want the Buckeyes and Wolverines to continue to play the final Saturday of the regular season.

"I think in the division or out of the division, you could play the last game," Smith told The Plain Dealer. "There are obviously warts with both of those. But there's no doubt you could do it both ways."

The fear is if the two teams are in different divisions, they would play in the final week of the regular season and turn around and play in the Big Ten title game.

Gee is in favor of playing the Wolverines twice, just not back-to-back.

"We want to beat them twice," Gee told the Daily News. "

Not splitting the Big 10 geographically is a huge mistake. Six years later and most people still can't tell you who's in which ACC division, but everyone know's who's in the SEC West and the BIG 12 South.

ACC tried to get cute thinking Miami and FSU would meet in the championship game every year...hasn't happened once.

I would fucking hate it if OSU-Michigan could be replayed in a championship game. it's one thing in basketball where most conference teams play each other twice, so any post-season matchup is a tie breaker. But for me, one of the things that makes the OSU-Mich game the best rivalry in sports is that the game is a once a year matchup, and they need to keep it as the last game for both teams.

Good news for Alabama. Penn State to start a true freshman at QB, so good chance they can get through their early stretch (San Jose State and Penn State at home, at Duke) without Ingram.

^^^^
How do the divisions mess up the most important rivalry in the conference? You do realize State-UNC, Miami-FSU, etc. are in different divisions, right?

^ but I do like the fact the Oklahoma and Texas have been in the same division every year.
And if tOSU and Mich still want to play on the last weekend, like they typically do, then you are setting yourself up for 2 weekends in a row of tOSU and Mich (if RichRod can right the ship up there). I'm not so sure that's good thing.
