I'm pretty sure they said Strasburg's start was being pushed back to the 8th so he could throw in the all-star game should he be invited 6/23/2010 11:42:48 PM |

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A PITCHING PROSECT
For his sake, I hope he comes back in 2012 and picks up where he left off
By that point, Harper could be in AA or AAA and they could be ready to actually contend 8/27/2010 11:08:48 AM |

What is this supposed to be? There is no guarantee for ANY prospect... but that doesn't mean they aren't top prospects.
And TJ isn't the end of the world, but it still sucks.8/27/2010 11:20:28 AM |

Have you never seen that quote before? It's practically Baseball Prospectus' motto.
and lots of people come back stronger from Tommy John. Watch him go Henry Rowengardner and come back throwing 106. 8/27/2010 11:22:15 AM |

^^ The list of people really is staggering. Chances are high he'll make a comeback and they're also decent he can be just as good.

Obviously some have done better than others lately. But as the baseball writers have been tweeting, it's better this than a bad shoulder injury. 8/27/2010 11:47:06 AM |

Read a thing with James Andrews saying how the elbow is just a simple hinge, whereas the shoulder is ball and socket combined with a hinge that rotates a full 360 degrees.
They say the Tommy John equivalent of shoulder surgery has yet to be discovered. 8/27/2010 11:50:46 AM |

Haha, seriously.
TJS is so common now that it's not even a huge deal aside from development being delayed. Shoulder surgery is pretty much a death knell to your past stuff. 8/27/2010 12:02:39 PM |

this really sucks, after all the protecting that the Nats did with him, he still got exactly what they were hoping he would avoid. I saw a stat on sportscenter this morning that said the average attendance at Nats games is around 22,000, when Strasburg starts the attendance average is 34,000.
I hope he comes back, it was fun seeing all the buzz he created and the way he backed up the hype. Plus he was a solid contributor to my fantasy team 8/28/2010 3:01:11 PM |

Strasburg hits 95 mph in a simulated game. Talks of him returning at the end of this year.

I guess they can sell tickets with him pitching. Otherwise, there's no point as the Nats are far out of it (again). 7/24/2011 6:47:56 PM |
