The baby feels no pain, it eliminates a type of cancer (to compare the forskin to a needed appendage is the weakest argument I have ever heard in my life on the subject) and cuts down on the spread of STI. It is also preferred by most woman and that lack of foreskin will make him a better lover.

There is not one negative of getting your baby cut - only positives.

Wow. Talk about ignorant. Tell that to the parents of these children. These are all medical problems that are the direct result of circumcision -- an optional procedure with arguable benefits, but very clear cut risks.

Don't even talk to me about vaccinations. I know more about vaccinations and the immune system than I ever wanted to know. But I can tell you that they're not even in the same ball park as circumcision, especially when it comes to the science end of things.

^Several studies and retrospectives have shown that there are a fair number of men who feel rather violated and betrayed by their parents. There are many people who feel that it is a human rights issue.

Not once did I say to let nature take care of things, I said that I chose to leave his penis as nature intended it. I recognize that there is nothing dysfunctional or deformed about the intact penis and that surgically altering it has few arguable if any benefit.

Hell, if I let nature take care of things, my son would be dead.

That 13 year old study is one of the studies used when the American Academy of Pediatrics wrote its current stance on circumcision.

At any rate, my two and a half year old has had more medical attention and more doctors overseeing his well being than many people have in their entire life time. No one, not even his urologist, has recommended that we circumcise him and I have definitely talked to them about it. So, I feel pretty good about my decision.

Not in first world countries, this hasn't been shown.

Maybe if you plan to dump your baby off into an uneducated backwards village in Africa, you'll have this issue. But this hasn't been shown to be the case with access to modern hygiene (ie hot water and soap) and access to modern medicine.

My father, my father-in-law, my brother, and my husband are all uncircumcised. They are all very happy to be uncircumcised. None of them have ever felt inferior because they were uncircumcised. None of them were ever teased because they were uncircumcised. The only people who really seem to have a problem with it and think that it is a requirement are those who are already circumcised.

My brother and I are only a year apart. We shared a bathtub and a bedroom for years, so it wasn't too far fetched that I talked to him about this once I had a child of my own. My husband talked to his father about it and I talked to my mother-in-law about it. Things are never as private as you think that they are when it comes to family.

I have a friend who was uncircumcised, but chose to have the surgery last year. He said it has been awesome after the initial healing (not to mention all the pain killers they gave him), but that's only because nerves are being constantly stimulated that were previously only engaged during sex and related activities.

I certainly don't think anyone is doing their child a dis-service by not circumcising. In this country it mainly comes down to aesthetics, and since I don't agree with piercing baby girls' ears when they are infants, why should this be any different? It just happens to be more culturally acceptable to circumcise...but it all comes down to letting someone choose what is best, when they are old enough, for themselves since it's not like it will harm a child to leave them intact.

But, I guess I'll wait to worry about it if I have a boy one day, lol.

There are other easier, less invasive and less expensive ways to prevent HIV, say, condoms perhaps? Because really, we all know you shouldn't be going raw dog unless you know someone is clean....and I can't believe I just used that phrase in a sentence. Do you also advocate that babies should have all of their presumed vestigial organs removed because there is the possibility of cancer? It would be the same idea.
