David Aldridge hasn't been relevant in years, not since "Towel-gate" in the Clippers locker room back in '06 or 7.

I get my news from people who know what the fuck they're talking about, like Brian Windhorst, Jonathan Givony and Rick The Ruler Bonnell

I know you can't scoff at $16M a season, but you'd think he'd give a discount to other teams trying to sign him just so he didn't have to live in Memphis

can't wait until most of the big time free agents stay with their current teams and nothing really huge happens.

bosh will leave toronto, and amare probably leaves phoenix, Boozer might jump ship too. Those are the only big name free agents who will probably leave

All of the "signings" are fake. Nobody can sign until July 8th, genius.

I'm very cautiously optimistic that LBJ is gonna stay in Cleveland. None of the other teams have "out of the park" deals to offer him. If he stays in Cleveland he will get more money, he'll still have a great team that is very close to a championship, him and his group of family/friends will still be treated like royalty (even moreso if he comes back), and it will be easier for him to say no to other cities than it will be to say no to cleveland. He will be a villain to the people of cleveland and ohio if he leaves, the people of chicago, miami and new york wont feel the same way since he wasnt guaranteed to be there in the first place.

Sure Chicago sounds like they can make a great team if he goes there, I just think they would have to offer up a deal that is absolutely impossible for him to turn down for him to leave Cleveland.

thats the end of my objective, slightly homer swayed analysis

I like Chris Bosh, but him holding up LeBron and Wade is like Don Cheadle standing in the way of Ocean's 11 being made.

joe johnson to the hawks, what a waste, they are just going to be four seeds for the next five years now, I was hoping he would be a sidekick to wade or lebron

Thanks for leading us to that 4 game 2nd round sweep when we lost by 20+ per game and you scored just 12.8 points per game on 30 percent shooting. Here's $119 million. Keep up the good work.

i wonder who will be first player willing to accept a max contract with the bobcats in the next few years now that they are starting to be relevant (i.e. playoff-bound...and whenever they ever get the cap space)

not knowing how long LB will be there, though, last year might have been the top of their potential for a while

ive been watching all these dunk contests on NBA tv the past couple of days and wonder if Charlotte will ever get an all-star weekend again. phoenix has had it twice since 1991 (and LA and Orlando twice as of 2011 and 2012, resp.)

way too much for amare, maybe I'll be proved wrong, he's a good player but I don't think he's worth 5 years 100 mil.

I think Amare is getting overpaid. He did have microfracture surgery, and he has had his share of injury concerns. He doesn't rebound well enough for a PF, and he doesn't have an affinity for defense.

Amare, even with the surgery, is explosive and a superior athlete to Lee, but I think I'd rather have Lee. Better midrange game, plays harder and rebounds better, and is as much a defensive liability as Amare.

David Lee is obviously worth more than Stoudamire will be over the next few years.

The Knicks don't care about winning they just like to make news.

The Joe Johnson signing is terrible, they should have let him go and built around their best two players Smith/Horford. They could have brought Childress back for 40% of the money and used the other 60% to land a decent PG now that Bibby is unplayable.

Amare for 5 years 100 million or Johnson for 6 years 119 million

Which of these do you think we will be laughing at harder in 2013?

The Johnson signing bothers me more, because they've already had him for 5 years...they know exactly what he can and can't do, and at 29, he's not going to get any better.

At least with Amare, its a new team and there will be a honeymoon period, but like rally said, David Lee is a better player and would have come cheaper.

I think one of the most under reported things of this whole saga is the Wolves' willingness to trade Al Jefferson in order to free up room for David Lee or someone else. Jefferson is making 42 mil over the next three years, but this is a 25 year old guy who averages 20/10. He's a younger Amare who actually defends. I know Minnesota is a wreck, but giving this guy up just to clear some cap room seems like another step in the wrong direction.

and more shitting on the Johnson deal, from Professor Hollinger himself

Quote :
" Virtually every shred of evidence indicates that Johnson's next six years will be dramatically worse than the previous six. He's 28 years old and already has more than 25,000 minutes on his odometer. Trolling through my similarity database, I find that the 10 most comparable players are Michael Finley, Richard Hamilton, Jalen Rose, Vince Carter, Jamal Mashburn, Steve Smith, Glen Rice, Jerry Stackhouse, Allan Houston and Glenn Robinson.

None of them made an All-Star team after age 30. Johnson will be paid like an All-Star -- check that, a superstar -- until he's 33."

what was Atlanta supposed to do, let Johnson walk and go back to 5 years ago when they were the worst team in the NBA?

They should have let him walk and signed Lebron to 2 max deals combined. Seriously though, Tree may have a point. Joe completely had Atlanta by the balls. If they are going to throw a max deal at someone, he may have been the only guy willing to play for Atlanta.

But imo its just another pre gun Gilbert Arenas situation. The Hawks have officially peeked.

The Knicks kind of had to throw a max offer at Amare or someone they knew they could get. Its very possible they dont get any of the names they were going after...and after showering New York with all these glossy stories of how they were going to bring in these huge free agent names, Lebron James, Chris Bosh, etc...if they came back with David Lee again and jack shit to go with him...there would be riots.
