Quote : | "^^ jesus I hope you're trolling. Either way, this voodoo/jinx/curse stuff in general on here has to go. A true good team wins no matter what they are ranked or what people are saying about them. If we have a trend of losing games after we get ranked that is causing you to think we have some "curse" it probaly means we didn't deserved to be ranked at those times anyway.
To be elite you need to play your best ALL the time no matter who you are playing or what you or your opponent is ranked. Hoping to not be ranked so as to be the underdog and give yourself and excuse/less pressure is some amateur crap and I sure as hell hate that mentality and hate always seeing that on these message boards.
The top programs in the country play like they are the top programs in the country week in and week out and want to be recognized. Mediocre teams fly under the radar and beat elite teams here and there. Which would you rather be? Maybe I just have a different mentality when it comes to sports... " |

http://hamptonroads.com/2010/09/nc-state-week-vol-1-my-ap-vote-and-how-vt-can-crack-it-weekend
Quote : | "The latest Associated Press poll will be out soon. I highly doubt Virginia Tech will be ranked. I didn’t vote for the Hokies this week, like last week and the week before.
But they’ll have their chance to creep back into the rankings with a win at N.C. State on Saturday. I moved the Wolfpack (4-0) into top 25 this week after an impressive win at Georgia Tech. I’d be stunned if they’re not ranked somewhere in the 20-25 range in both the coaches’ and the AP poll later today.
QB Russell Wilson is having another great season for N.C. State. He lit up the Yellow Jackets’ defense (yes, Hokies, you can celebrate the fact that it’s former Virginia coach Al Groh’s defense to be more specific) for 368 yards and three touchdowns.
Wilson has completed 60 percent of his passes for 1,112 yards, 11 touchdowns and only one interception so far this season. At this way-too-early point, he has to be considered the frontrunner for ACC player of the year.
This presents quite a challenge for Virginia Tech’s young defense. But they sure looked all-grown-up in the second halves of wins over ECU and Boston College the past two weeks. And as we’ve covered here, coordinator Bud Foster’s smart use of both a nickel and “30” package (both featuring five DBs) has really helped the Hokies attack opposing passing games.
I think it’s a pretty an intriguing matchup, and TV executives agree. The game will be played at 3:30 p.m. on ABC. With a win, Tech can establish itself as a serious contender for the league title. The Wolfpack, which hasn’t had a winning ACC record since 2002, can do the same.
This looks like the year that N.C. State coach Tom O’Brien helps the program turn a corner, return to relevance. Will he do it at Frank Beamer and the Hokies’ expense? It’s gonna be a serious test for Tech, but there’s a blueprint for success: get pressure on Wilson.
The Hokies sacked Wilson five times last season in a 38-10 win over the Wolfpack. Wilson threw one touchdown and one interception. Tech had six sacks against Boston College on Saturday. You can bet Foster will be dialing up the heat this weekend.
If that heat gets to Wilson, expect to see the Hokies start getting serious consideration in the polls. " |

Our offensive line's play will be key. We did let Georgia Tech through on the weak side a few times on Saturday. If we give Wilson time, our running backs don't put the ball on the ground, and Chokekowski does't...well, choke, we stand a good chance. 9/26/2010 9:20:19 PM |

Haha, this is exactly the scenario I keep seeing in my head. Squeak by VT, beat up on a BC team that has finally been decimated by poor AD decisions, and then have a fumble fest in Greenville.9/26/2010 10:56:03 PM |

I still don't like us starting Haynes at tailback, and he will end up costing us a game by putting the ball on the ground in a critical situation. Greene has done everything you could possibly ask of him and he still can't get the carries he deserves. 9/26/2010 11:00:16 PM |

Dude had one bad game. Against GT it looked like he had adjusted and wasn't swinging the ball all over the place. If you looked closely during the Cinci game, Greene also had a time or two where he was doing stuff with the football, like trying to cut through traffic with it held out in one hand. Fortunately, he didn't get stripped.9/26/2010 11:07:32 PM |
