taking the kids away from the parents is an overreaction, unless they were all living in some kind of opium den.

It makes you wonder what would have happened if this had occured in California. Pot isn't even a misdimeanor there anymore.

No, it's regardless of addiction.
I'm just saying these parents were unlucky. Dozens of other parents smoke pot, and don't get randomly busted. (It's not simply that the kid had access to the weed -- that was dumb -- it's that DARE told him to narc on his parents.) Prohibition of this stupid law caused problems, not the habits of the parents. If what you were saying were true, then 100% of people busted would be "doing it wrong" and 100% of pot-heads that don't get busted would be "doing it right". It simply doesn't work that way. I was naive like you once, but I've seen dozens of dishonest and violent pot users go decades without being busted, and also dozens of honest and non-violent pot users get busted because they got randomly narced on. In one example, a student's life was harmed because her suite-mate, despite all 6 other suite-mates advising her to simply talk to her roommate when she found pot paraphernalia in her dorm, but narced on her roommate instead. You can be "doing everything right", and randomly run into a narc. There are pushers on the corners with clean records, and there are 4.0 GPA, extra-curricular-activity-doing occasional-recreational users with felony pot convictions.

But according to you, the ones that get into legal trouble were doing it wrong, and only those that
deserve it" get busted.

regardless of what you think, the law is still the law and you have to "play by the rules", which means if you dont want to get caught, you need to take precautions. If you are careful then you wont get caught...like myself.
