^^^I met my wife cruising the Sonic 500 in RR back in the day.

I knew her for years before that as we were in marching band together, and I was friends with her HS boyfriend and his family so we used to both hang over at their house (I would hang with his sister), but he was a real controlling guy and she was shy, so we never talked in person. I gave her a ride home once or twice, but she never said more than the directions to her house and thanks. We chatted occasionally on ICQ, and I did ask a girl out at her house during her 16th birthday party.

I moved to State, and she broke up with dude and moved to the next county for her senior year. I ran into her a year or two later cruising around one summer night back in town. Her ex was talking to her because he was trying to get up with one of her friends, and a guy I was riding with wanted to go speak to her ex. Jess had just gotten a cellphone and gave me her new number, and I called her up a night or two later. The rest is history. But I would have probably never met her again if not for her ex, so for that I have to give him props.

My uncle was in the ROTC in college with my daddy and introduced him to my mother.

They were stationed together a lot during my childhood which was neat.

Can't say when they met, but as for their first Christmas:

Apparently the two of them had been fighting for a few days. Christmas morning my mom opens dad's gift, which happens to be a toy tractor. My mom looks up puzzled, and dad says, "use it to pull your head out of your ass."

True Story.

They met at mcdonalds. My mom was ~18 and making some egg mcmuffins when my dad walked in (~26) with a family friend of hers and that's how they met.
But my dad got married to someone else and had two kids with her. 4 years after my dad met my mom he had gotten a divorce and started dating my mom (mustve really liked the egg mcmuffins!). Got married soon after and have been together for over 33 years! Not really romantic, but I think it's all true, gets a little touchy to ask about bc of the crazy first wife.

^^ haha that's awesome

My parents were both in relationships when they met. My mom had a friend from Meredith and my dad had a friend from State. Both they're friends like eachother and drug my parents along as support I guess. They went to Two Guys restraunt on Hillsborough. After that my parents started cheating on the sig. others with each other. Then they got married and I popped out. My dad always told me only to cheat if they're worth it

Not my parents, but family of mine(distant)

So my dad has two cousins. Stevie and Cathy. Their mothers were sisters. Cathy apparently was hot shit in Rowan Co. back in the day and ended up fucking some rich old dude and marrying him. She got fat and addicted to drugs, then her husband died and left her no money. She moved home with her parents where she moved into a storage shed in the back yard. They set it up real nice with a window AC unit. Cousin Stevie lived two lots down in a 30 year old trailer. He's an alcoholic and lost his license years ago. Well now that the two cousins were reunited and practically neighbors I guess the sparks flew. They're both dating now and live in their trailer/ back yard storage shed near High Rock Lake. Stevie says he likes the shed better though because it doesn't have mold.

Can't choose family............

My parents were both in school to become vet techs. My mom mistook my dad for an instructor, stuck a sick cat in his face and said, "do you think it'll live?" Been married 35 years.

In my parents big box of pictures etc I found this little piece of paper/stationary. It said

"Day we met: May x, 1969"
"Day we got engaged: July x, 1969"

I was like wtf. Did they really get engaged that quickly?! I asked my mom about it and she said they knew each other for 9 weeks before my dad proposed. He was 27 and she was 23, and they met at a church in the Chicago area because my dad was in grad school at Northwestern. I asked my dad about it and he got defensive and sketchy. He wouldn't give me much of an explanation. He's not the impulsive type so it was very shocking to me. It's been a rough ride at times, but they are still together and I would say as happily married as you can be at this point. Their 40th anniversary was in August.

My parents were actually born three days apart in 1959. They were born in the same hospital and actually in incubators beside each other. They went to the same community pool and were in the same classes their entire lives and then junior year of high school, one of my mom's friends wanted to date my dad so my mom tried to hook it up. My dad said "Hell no, I want to date you" and they have been together ever since. Married 30 years.

Joe and I met when Playmakers was Playmakers 6 months after I graduated college. Some of my friends knew some of his friends. We talked for four hours that night and I called my mom and told her I just met the man I am going to marry (at 1:30 in the morning). The funny thing is that I had actually been in his neighborhood numerous times, I met his brother in 2003 and his good friend in 2004 and him in Feb of 2006. We celebrated our two year wedding anniversary in Sept.

one set of my great-grandparents were 1st cousins

when i was a kid, i asked how come this great-grandmother had the same last name as my great-grandfather before they got married. my mom wasn't quite sure, because she never really knew much about that side of the family. so i did some genealogy investigation as an adult, and found out the details:

my gr-grand father was 22 years old, working his own farm, and his new 19 yo wife was pregnant with their first child. But then she died while giving birth to the child. So there he was with an newborn infant, a shitton of farmwork to do, and a dead wife.

Now this small town they live in is full of extended family members, and his uncles get together to figure how to help him out. My great-grandfather now has a 16 y.o. first cousin (female) who comes to live in his house with him a while and take care of the baby so he can keep his farm going.

everything is going fine until a few months later, my gr-grandfather and his first cousin all of a sudden run over across the state line to Kentucky, and get married by a Justice of the Peace.

and exactly 8 months later, my grandfather is born.

LOL

My mom and dad were in the same chemistry class at state and he convinced her to "help" him with his chem homework. He didnt need the help he said but thought it was a good way to get to hang out with the cute girl.

If you were born "a couple months after they met," then how is he your father?

Also, it's not clear that you're a love child. Love child is a nice term to describe children born out of wedlock, not children born to unfaithful married women--those are just regular children that get born all the time!

My dad ended up in Greensboro with the rest of his crazy after getting a Master's in Chem and working in upstate NY for a few years (?). He was between jobs and, I have a feeling, trying to figure out what the hell he wanted to do with his life. So he was working with his brother, at his convenience store.

My mom was working at a temp agency, possibly a 2nd shift or odd timing. They would go get snacks, smokes, etc at the nearest convenience store nearest to the office. It was the same store my father was working at.

They both recognized one another after a while, and at one point, my mother comes in to the store looking for boxes. She's moving apartments and was wondering if they might have any here. My father says, yes, of course we have boxes. But he would also be more than happy to help her move.

Aaaaand... they've been married for 28 years now.

lol I did a vanity search and found this... I am pretty sure they met at party briefly and then had friends get them together over the following weeks. I'm not 100% sure though (as neither of them really ever wants to bring it up anymore)

lol I think I got confused, here's what my brother told me: Mom was a stay-at-home mother and dad was unemployed at the time. Dad hung out with my mom and my brothers over the summer months of 1981, he had just moved into the neighborhood. Then my brothers went back to school and I was conceived that September and born June 1982. They both started divorce proceedings during that time so I think being a "love child" applies.

After my grandmother told me I was a love child I went right home and told my parents! I was 6 and I thought it meant I was so awesome and special! My parents didn't talk to granny until Thanksgiving of that year
