Every university has their closet racists. It's not limited to NCSU. The world should just understand and accept that fact. It would make NCSU look bad if this were the typical day-to-day message. It would make NCSU look bad if it wasn't promptly covered/criticized by other NCSU students.

It makes NCSU look bad when every little thing gets thrown into the spotlight as if this is typical behavior at NCSU. It's not typical behavior and drawing attention to it via protests and news articles will not stamp it out. This is nothing new and it's not going to go away. The same thing will happen next year and the year after that. What we can control is whether we choose to give attention to it and make a spectacle of the school that most of us attend(ed).

It's the blockaders right to free speech to protest the offensive speech of some other assholes.And they are assholes.

I don't blame them for being pissed, and I support their actions. I just don't know what can really be done about it. The only solution is if facilities checked the tunnel on their morning rounds and painted over insensitive things.

And i don't think this particular case is just about the word "nigger." People have been painting that in the FXT for YEARS now (at least 8 years...). It's that they felt the need to call our president that. There are tons of things you can right about the president if you hate him, but why stoop to attacking his skin color or heritage? That's something that's rarely done for other presidents (mostly because it can't be done).

I suspect if the protesters had made signs and stood in the rain they would have received a strong showing of solidarity from the NCSU students, faculty and staff.

Blocking the entrance and making a nuisance of themselves did the opposite.

I'm pretty pissed that the news articles keep saying they were protecting "Racism and homophobia".

They were there for racism. They never said in their protesting, signs, or intent that it had anything to do with sexual orientation and gender-based discrimination, and they didn't even respond to people about it until they started getting criticized for it.

The guy who posted on their Facebook page was incredibly right, there's hate-slurs in the tunnel about fags and bitches all day every day, and no one ever gets riled up over it.
