ok - that is what i thought!! i loved her course then and totally disagree with whatever that person said about her!! i do think she had a certain way she wanted questions answered on tests though, if i remember correctly. it was kind of like a law school exam...the way you presented your argument mattered, which i could see making some people upset.

Linear algebra. just hated the class, prof, and material.

"Discrete Math with Rodman"

was a close second.

I dropped it on the deadline, and ended up re-taking it with Bitzer. Bitzer is the fucking man, and I ended up loving the class as a result. I think the foundation I built there also made me enjoy Automata. I am the only person I know who didn't hate Automata.

"8am Discrete Math with Rodman"

Thread off to a good start I see. Don't know about the semester you took it, but I remember the final for that class being brutal. Like 3 people finished in the 3 hours allotted and I have a sneaking suspicion all of those people just got to the point where they said, "man, screw this" and walked out.

Discrete Math wins, but ST 371 was up there. Nothing but a bunch of formal proofs for all things calculus.

I also had BUS 340 with a professor that reminded me of Tim the Tool-man Taylor. The tests were full of multiple choice questions like:

Software can be found on which of the following:
A) A workstation
B) A server
C) A mainframe
D) A PC

And the instructions for all assignments in that class were: If you do everything in the assignment you'll get a B. You have to do something extra to get an A. The "something extra" was never defined, you had to come up with something and you never really knew how they graded assignments. Sometimes your extra stuff would interfere with whatever they were really grading and you'd be marked down for it.

The Model UN course I took was ridiculous. The professor seemed utterly unprepared to teach the course and we spent more time debating how we were going to get up to NY then doing actual coursework By March we went from having around 15 people enrolled in the course to I think 3

I cant remember the number (PS 301 maybe?)...but it was a political science class call something like Research Methods or Statistical Research Methods. Three hours a week of dicking around on a statistical computer program with a professor who always seemed like he was on speed.

most worthless was eng101, no fuckin doubt. most miserable was probly discrete math with rodman and all his OJ simpson examples. although eng101 was pretty fuckin miserable too

holy shit seems like a lot of us have noticed some real suspect professors in CSC

oh wait, I almost forgot about my dbag chem101 teacher. that dude that used to stalk kids that hated him on this site. warren I think. the guy kept insisting he could hold a lecture at cambridge and we were privileged to hear him speak. he failed something like 65% of the class semester after semester and eventually got put on probation. i think he failed the social skills bar.

[Edited on January 10, 2011 at 10:47 AM. Reason : sociology of the family with greenberg or greenstein was awful as well. worst online class ever.]

Several years ago, I was in the introductory Material Science class that all engineers (or mech's for sure) had to take and the teacher (can't remember his name) was soooo old. Even sitting front-dead center, you could barely hear him and a pin dropping could drown his voice out. He had to start using oxygen at some point during the semester and was dead before it was over. I felt bad for the guy but all around it was worst college course I ever had.

I was the same way with that class.

Honestly I think the math classes at State depend wholly on who is teaching the course. When I took the first calc class at State, I had some grad student teaching it, he was a very good teacher, and I managed a B+ in the class, even though I'm terrible at math. Then I moved on to the next level of calculus and it was some Chinese dude who I swear had never passed the TOIEC exam and was a horrible fucking teacher. I was so pissed. I should have dropped the class but I was young and naive and eventually failed it

God yeah that class, and almost every other class that Prof Williams taught was an utter waste of time. He's a nice guy, but those classes could be painful.

Exactly, but that's what we did. It was a difficult course.

You take water aerobics for a few reasons:
1) You don't have to take running or swimming. Everyone I knew that took those courses looked like death warmed over right after they got out of class. Water aerobics? Sure, I can do some jumping jacks in a pool.
2) Scope out the chicks.

When I took that class it was filled with half the football team and had about 3 chicks - none attractive.

Does anybody remember that female graduate student who was also a high school teacher in CSC? The one they let teach courses for some god-awful reason?

She "taught" me 333, and I'm convinced even the most clueless student in the room knew more than her. It was extremely embarrassing to be forced to attend those terrible, time-wasting lectures when I could have spent the time reading instead.

Public speaking was a total BS waste of time for someone who already does theatre and extemporaneous speaking and essay writing.

^^ yeah he's a great guy just the courses themselves suck. Especially those 100 level PS courses. I have no idea why they still have those.

"^^Yeah, I thought the content for 390 was pretty interesting, but it was definitely rough for an english course.

(On the other hand one of the best classes I ever had in undergrad was an English course, and I highly recommend any course with Dr Hunt)"

Agreed. I loved the content but wished the prof would choke himself with his own tweed suit. Just a little bit.
Dr. Hunt is the shit! :-D Also creepy/weird fact: he used to live in the house my parents do now in VA

I loved water aerobics, that lady from Kenya (can't remember her name) kicked my ass . . . doing crunches before getting into the water and she'd come by and smack your stomach if you weren't doing it right
