Damn, and now the US Ambassador in Libya has been killed.

I wonder what made this seemingly random film a hot-button issue?

The ambassador in Libya

I doubt it was the film. My guess is that its 9/11 and the radio broadcasters used the video as a rallying cry to specifically strike the embassies today.

Quote :
"Yup shit is kicking off in Tunis as we speak. It's regional. The culprit is Islamicist satellite TV and radio preachers calling on Muslims to "Defend the name of the Prophet." It's a shit storm. This is bad."

I just can't believe how barbaric these people are. Killing three innocent people over a movie they have nothing to do with? Sheesh. 'Tis why I have no respect for these people.

So sovereign US soil is attacked. What do we do?

Apologize for a video, on youtube, that wasn't even made in America.

yea... not the best decision by the embassy.

the killing is most likely not related to the video, but rather retaliation for the us support of NATO intervention in Libya which then led to the overthrow of the ghadafi regime.

probably leftover loyalists that used the protests as a cover.

BREAKING NEWS: U.S. OFFICIALS SAY THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION IS INVESTIGATING WHETHER THE ASSAULT ON THE U.S. CONSULATE IN LIBYA WAS A PLANNED TERRORIST STRIKE TO MARK THE ANNIVERSARY OF 9/11 AND NOT A SPONTANEOUS MOB ENRAGED OVER AN ANTI-ISLAMIC YOUTUBE VIDEO.

Regardless of the ploy that was used, the US was attacked. It will be telling what we do about it, especially this close to the election. Whatever the decision, it will definitely be motivated by re-election.

We should immediately declare war on Libya. Yeah! That'll do the trick.

How about pulling all financial support out immediately until the governments of Libya and Egypt produce the attackers? Will it hurt poor people in those countries? Most certainly. Should we care? Most certainly not.

Pull your war hawk sarcasm all you want, but this needs a hard line.

Hot air balloon crash in Egypt kills 18 foreigners
HAGGAG SALAMA, Associated Press
Feb 26, 2013 6:54 a.m.

LUXOR, Egypt—A hot air balloon flying over Egypt's ancient city of Luxor caught fire and crashed into a sugar cane field on Tuesday, killing at least 18 foreign tourists, a security official said.

It was one of the worst accidents involving tourists in Egypt and likely to push the key tourism industry deeper into recession.

The casualties included French, British, Belgian, Hungarian, Japanese nationals and nine tourists from Hong Kong, Luxor Governor Ezzat Saad told reporters.

Three survivors of the crash -- two British tourists and one Egyptian -- were taken to a local hospital.

According to the Egyptian security official, the balloon carrying at least 20 tourists was flying over Luxor when it caught fire, which triggered an explosion in its gas canister, then plunged at least 300 meters (1,000 feet) from the sky.

It crashed into a sugar cane field outside al-Dhabaa village just west of Luxor, 510 kilometers (320 miles) south of Cairo, said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media.

Bodies of the dead tourists were scattered across the field around the remnants of the balloon. An Associated Press reporter at the crash site counted eight bodies as they were put into body bags and taken away. The security official said all 18 bodies have been recovered.

The official said foul play has been ruled out. He also said initial reports of 19 dead were revised to 18 as confusion is common in the aftermath of such accidents.
