^^AHA, you're in a thread arguing about Charlie Sheen, dude.

Don't think this is the time or place to criticize people who get caught up in celebrity gossip.

But, yeah, Geppetto is being ridiculous.

Ridiculous? Why, because I can acknowledge that Charlie Sheen is currently living life the way he wants; a feat that sounds simple, yet appears impossible since so few people manage to do it? If you were one out of 1 million people who have managed to take a finite amount of time and turn it into their advantage you'd feel like a winner too.

"No, you insufferable, close-minded troglodyte. Sheen's colorful metaphors are only a part of it. Sheen mostly speaks of a higher philosophy about life that many people appreciate but actively push to the side and ignore so that they don't drown themselves int heir own boredom. Believe it or not, the porn stars are just part of that philosophy. We all spend our money on things that we enjoy, hobbies if you will. I don't like hunting, but some do. I don't spend money on video games, but some do. Sheen just chooses to spend his money on what entertains him. The fact of the matter is that many people are just jealous of what he can do with his money. Think about how high of a dollar the XXX industry is, or how active sites like adult friend finder and craigslist casual encounters are. People want to live his lifestyle, but they are too afraid to do it on the open arena. He has said "I don't care any more" and is explaining to others why they should free themselves too. The basic tenants of what he has to say are so obvious, but it is no wonder feels like a uniquely guided genius since people can't, or, rather, choose to dismiss, this concept."

It's not jealousy for most people. Many people openly admit to being jealous of Hugh Hefner's lifestyle (even if they laugh at him for being so old he probably can't even really have sex anymore), and he does the same thing as sheen. People don't treat sheen the same way because they see him as crazy, drug addled, and/or disturbed.

He's doing what many other people would do if they had the means, that doesn't make him a uniquely guided genius. Sheen is simply a spoiled celebrity who feels entitled to everything he has.

Also you forgot his lame catchphrases. Where do they fit in with this genius master plan of his?

BTW the fact that you think everyone critical of sheen is jealous of him shows you believe everyone wants to do what he's doing. Who is close-minded again?

My point is that it is easy for someone like Sheen, especially at this point in his life to do this. There is nothing interesting about this. It is extremely easy for someone established, at a point in life that Sheen is, and independently wealthy to share what is really on their mind, do whatever they want, and not care what other people say.

The only reason he is getting attention is directly related to the fact that the general public loves gossip. These are the same people who will watch Jersey Shore and get caught up in the Jon&Kate crap. You're talking about a pretty unintelligent busy-body audience. What is he doing that you think is so genius?

I guess a lot of it just comes down to what different people value in life. If you look at OopsPowSrprs's post, I don't necessarily care about having respect from my peers but I also don't really have any interest in scenario #2. Certainly there are other viable options.

In reality, I obviously was exaggerating when I said I hope his career is over after this. Since I don't think he is funny anymore, I'm not interested in what he does with his career. I just don't get all the people acting like he is some sort of god for speaking his mind now that he has all the money he needs to not give one iota what other people think of him. Doesn't take hardly any balls to do that at this point in your life/career.

Because I state in one celebrity-gossip related thread that I think all this celebrity gossip and media buzz concerning Charlie Sheen is stupid I lose the ability to say that celebrity gossip is stupid? Does not compute. Sorry!

Wrong. Do you have, or know of anyone who has, a grandpa who says things that are out of line and would get most people slapped? This is not too rare. The same formula applies here. Hefner is old, so what he does is adorable. Sheen is young, therefore what he does is chastised. Surely you're familiar with this dynamic.

^Most? Are you crazy? Most people are jealous of Charlie Sheen because he bangs barely legal runaways who have to sell sex for money?!??! I can do that right now, but I don't want to. And I don't think most people do either.

Also, since when is Charlie Sheen young?!?!?!

Uh, this is something Hefner has done since long before he was some senile old viagra addict. The playboy mansion has been a palace of debauchery for decades and nobody thought Hef was crazy. Mainly because he didn't say crazy things.

I doubt it.

Furthermore, I like how you compared Sheen to John Lennon. You'd think before you start comparing them Sheen would produce ONE SINGLE noteworthy piece of art in his life. He's made a few decent comedy movies and starred in a couple of successful and questionably funny sitcoms with broad appeal. THAT'S IT.

I think either you're still trolling, or you're lying to yourself. You think Sheen is some genius who connects with you at some deep level and understands your views on life. If Charlie Sheen is John Lennon, you're Charles Manson .

However I don't think most people are jealous of his lifestyle.

The main reason that ultra-rich celebrities pay for sex isn't because they can't get laid otherwise. It's because free pussy is going to run and tell the tabloids all about it.

The fucked up part in all this, in my opinion, is that he paid these broads tons of money and some of them still blabbed.

Very unprofessional in my opinion.

^^Definitely. I wouldn't be so silly as to say I'm not jealous of that kind of wealth and success in life. Very few people would try and argue that they aren't jealous of that.

The kind of life I would live with that kind of wealth and the kind he lives are polar opposites though. Extremely different personality types (which coincidentally is probably also a big reason I think his show is terrible)

Compared to Hefner, he definitely is. Also, rich 40s is the new 30, and you can check with Jay-Z on this one. Do you, and this is an honest question, actually think before you speak up or do you say whatever comes to you. If it is the latter, this is a perfect example of how Sheen differs from the normal population. What he says is intelligent and what comes out of your mouth is just babble.

You don't have to miss the big game because she wants to go furniture shopping. You dont have to ask her how her day went. You dont have to pretend you like her asshole dad.
