So yeah, can we suspend Bullet? Seriously? The guy is being a douche just for the sake of being a douche, he doesn't contribute anything to sports talk. He's obviously just here to troll. For example, this very thread, where he is only posting to attack other people's religious beliefs.
Just read one of his posts, they aren't about sports at all, just trying to piss people off message_search.aspx?type=posts&username=Bullet

He actually has a point this time (surprisingly). Every post you'd have in here has been some stab at religion (except maybe the THC comment which I didn't really see how that fit the flow of conversation at the time). 3/5/2011 12:14:39 PM |

Sports Radio Interviews — How On Earth Did Jim McMahon Survive BYU's Honor Code? / byu cougarsEvery morning, the fine folks at Sports Radio Interviews sift through the a.m. drive-time chatter to bring you the best interviews with coaches, players, and personalities across the sports landscape. Today: McMahon remembers the administration's hypocrisy.
Jim McMahon joined WQAM with Gino Torretta and Steve White to discuss what was his reaction was to Brandon Davies being dismissed from BYU after violating the honor code, how much has the honor code changed since he went to BYU with the advent of the internet, if Jimmer Fredette violated the honor code would he have been thrown off the team, did he know the honor code existed when he first decided to go to BYU and does the administration abide by the honor code that the students are under.
We've been talking about the honor code and Brandon Davies. We know it's BYU, but what is your reaction? "That doesn't surprise me. It's been going on for years there so. I actually just read that on the ESPN deal you know he [Brandon Davies] got kicked out for having sex with his girlfriend. That's part of their code I guess, but I know it happens. I know it's been happening for years, but some guys get caught, some guys don't."
How much has it changed since you went to BYU with the advent of the internet. Would you imagine it's the same honor code you had to follow? "Well I wouldn't imagine it's any different. Like you said with all the things going on nowadays the IPhones, tweets, and all this kind of crap, I mean I don't see the campus any differently. I mean they're college kids, man they're going to do things. You know sometimes people will tell on you and sometimes they won't."
BYU has the leading the scorer in the country on their team. If Jimmer Fredette would have violated the code would he have been thrown off the team if he violated the honor code? "Well again that's…I don't know what they would have done. Like I said I'm sure there's other players on that team and probably in the whole school who are still doing things they probably shouldn't according to the honor code, but it happens."
Did you know this honor code existed when you got there? Did they explain it to you? "They explain it to you. They say ‘Oh we have this honor code. People will probably talk to you about the religion and this and that.' They said ‘All you have to do is tell them I'm not interested.' But I have to say I'm not interested for five years before I get out. It was everyday you get hounded by it."
I gotta think the people who are enforcing these rules are not abiding by all of them? They have to have skeletons in their closet don't they? "Well I saw a lot of hypocrisy when I was there and that's what turned me off about it. Guys in administration, higher ups, sneaking off for coffee, these kinds of things that are supposedly illegal too yet some people get away with it and some don't."" |

There's a difference between intolerance and telling people that the things they believe in are unbelievably stupid.3/6/2011 12:25:49 AM |

He cheated on his long term gf (who is white) with a white chick from Provo, and she is now pregnant with a mixed baby.
Maybe this was just too much for the Mormons to handle. He got released from the team, and she was banished from Provo. Wow. 3/7/2011 11:13:35 PM |

Imma go out on a limb here and say that BYU was forced into the issue of releasing him.
Because she was getting ready to have his baby, and they were not married, hence BYU is stuck between a rock and a hard place. I guess instead of having them get married, they opted for just getting rid of him.

I would guarantee this is more of a race issue than a sex issue. Mormons have been historically pretty racist. I believe it wasn't until relatively recently that Mormons officially recognized black people as more than sub-human. Anyone think there isn't significant lingering social bigotry out there?3/8/2011 9:48:21 AM |

How about that. I know quite a few mixed race Mormon couples, so it can't be that big a deal. People aren't perfect, there are racists out there and some will inevitably belong to a church. I'd like to think that members of the church would try to make an effort to transcend racism, but there will always be the die-hards.
I guess people will now turn it into a racism issue, but a pregnancy does make a difference. No pregnancy and you can always promise not to have sexual relations again and continue on with your life. Someone gets pregnant and now you've got the responsibility of a child. 3/8/2011 9:59:11 AM |

well, yes. It is lookin more like a race issue to me. Note, the girl was kicked out of provo by her family.
Kicked out? Damn that's harsh. 3/8/2011 10:01:34 AM |

Yeah, I saw “banished from Provo” in the link. I also saw "to escape the media coverage."
No telling what that means. I'd probably want to leave somewhere too if I had swarms of media outside my door all day. Some of it may be coming from pissed bb fans And yes, I don't doubt there are some racist idiots out there voicing their opinions.
According to the article her family didn't banish her from Provo, they sent her to Provo in the hopes that it would keep her out of trouble. It says her dad was a bishop and that the family isn't happy. She got pregnant and isn't married, so that's understandable. Maybe there's some "to a black man!?!?" in there maybe not - that's pure speculation. Just saying that an unwed pregnancy alone would be more than enough to upset a father that is a former bishop.
Also, the original long term white girlfriend was never banished from anything during the course of that long term relationship - as far as I know. He was never banished from Provo for having a penchant for white girls, etc.

yeah the original girl plays no role really.
Oh well

I dont read that as she was banished to escape media coverage. I read that as her family pushed her out.
Also
Quote : | " “the family is NOT happy at all. Her father is a former bishop and sent her to Provo because he felt she was getting into too much trouble in SoCal”." |
Basically it sounds like the family is ashamed.
