The military is a bureaucracy like any other. What do you really expect? Efficiency?

"We have restored access to all Leave and Earnings Statements (LESes), Net Pay Advice or Advice of Pay for Active Duty Military and Reservists.

PLEASE NOTE -- Active Duty: You will receive your full mid-month pay by April 15, but the most current Advice of Pays will still only show the partial payments for April 1-8. This will allow us to make sure we can still process pay for April 9-15 and take steps to ensure it is in bank accounts by the 15th. A full accounting of your April pay will be available on your normal end of month Leave and Earnings Statement, posted to your myPay account on April 22, 2011.

PLEASE NOTE -- Reservists: You will receive your full mid-month pay on April 15, but the most current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES) will still only show the partial payments for April 1-8. This will allow us to still process pay for April 9-15 and take steps to ensure it is in bank accounts by the 15th. A full accounting of your April pay will be available on your normal end of month LES, posted to your myPay account on April 22, 2011.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The good news is we can ensure you will receive your normal pay on April 15.

PAY STATUS: All military and reservists will receive full pay on April 15 for duty served. There will be more than one deposit into your account, but again, all payments will be deposited on April 15. Check with your bank to confirm the amount deposited into your account on the 15th.

Neither Marine Corps nor Civilian Pay is impacted in any way."

So what is stategrad100 mad at again?

Having served 5 years in the Navy, I would estimate that at least 90% of the people I worked with live paycheck to paycheck each and every month (mostly due to their own shitty budgeting skills). I was able to get out with plenty of money saved up and graduate college no problem. Learn how to save your money and dont bitch about not getting your paycheck, considering you gave up any right to complain when you signed on the dotted line. Peace.

yea, most marines are living paycheck to paycheck for a few reasons but mainly because they are paid so little. even though they live in barracks and have no bills besides maybe internet and a phone or car payment or whatever, they still find a way to spend it all. even when it comes to food and other living allowances, as a young enlisted marine, you could eat every meal at the chow hall and never pay an extra dime because you have actually already payed for it. but they dont want to eat there everytime so they eat out and that means paying twice.

i am able to save up pretty good but if i made any large purchases or got loans for really anything, i wouldnt be able to save a whole lot. especially when your living somewhere that your housing allowance doesnt cover your rent and expenses.

they don't get paid a lot, but if you compare average ages and education of enlisted marines to salaries of people the same age with the same level of education they do pretty well

^^ well, the problem would be an 18 year old thinking he needs a car payment, not how little they get paid.
