I'm just saying she's gonna love it because there are stretches 15 miles long or longer out there where there's absolutely nothing. No exits, no houses, nothing but you, trees and a feeling of impending doom.

^ Wait, what? In that case drink some fucking nyquil and nap the whole way if you're gonna flip out.

If you go fast enough, I'm sure you can make it there in an hour.

OK..so heres the real deal, my anxiety causes me to feel like I cant breathe...so therefore when I get in the middle of nowhere and feel like I can't breathe...it gets a little scary and I panic

Why beat around the bush here? To hell with Wilmington. Instead get on I-40 West and don't stop till you get to Barstow. That should help get rid of your fear.

but there's never any SHP on that 70 mph stretch. if i'm not pulling the boat i run at least 75 and it's like 15 or 20 mins i think. it sucked a lot worse when it was 55 all the way to new bern.

I've done Mojave (little past Barstow) to Raleigh twice, non-stop. I think it was just over 42 hours. Would not do again.

I know anxiety sucks sometimes because I have it as well, but take control of your damn brain. When you start feeling uncomfortable, just take some slow, deep breaths, drink some water, and think about how stupid it is to panic over some shit like driving on a highway.

so peeing in some strange unfamiliar woods is no biggie. but you're afraid to drive down an interstate highway 120 miles (and not even doing that solo).

get some meds

Gas up before leaving, lock your doors, and don't stop for anything. The roaming gangs on I-40 are terrorizing motorists and there are packs of wild dogs and hyenas that will pounce on you if you open the car door or leave your window down. If you have a RPG it'd be a good idea to bring it, but you're probably fine with your normal survival kit and a few hundred rounds of ammo.

Also, beware of anyone who looks like some kind of satanic football player.

why is this even a thread? its a 1.5-2 hour drive with plenty of exits along the way. Mind over matter, its not a bad drive, just make a couple cd/ipod mixes and zone out for the whole drive.

yeah, b/c zoning out is a good idea when you're crusing at 80 mph in a 2 ton vehicle >.<

I'll echo this statement. I made this trip about every other weekend my senior year and I looked for cops all the time because I was usually going around 90...never saw them.

Possibly...but gunzz was the one that I remember was obsessed with her. Creepster style...beating off with one hand, making topics about her with the other.

You guys have been very lucky...As have I.
The fastest run I ever made was around 1:15 give or take (I didn't really time it). I left Raleigh at 5:30 a.m. while it was still dark out. Holding 85-90 while passing cars, frequently opening up to around 115-120 on the straights and an occasional burst into the 130s/140s. On that run there was a HP officer near Clayton. I got a good 3/4 mile warning on my Radar detector, hit the brakes, and a Volvo SUV that had been pacing me blew past me. The HP officer got the Volvo.

On another run I was clocked at around 90 by a HP officer in the curve just past that rest stop. I got no advance warning, but the radar detector let me know I had been clocked. I had been working my way through a huge group of cars for several miles and had just gotten clear of them. I could see the HP car pulling up to the road, but I just kept going. No idea what happened to him. Maybe he found an easier target or maybe he just got someone at the back of the pack.

They're also notorious for pulling over whole groups of cars and writing everyone a ticket on that road.

Left around 8:15 this morning, took me 1:38 from Gorman to the welcome to Wilmington sign. 1:59 to the Carolina beach bridge. Never thought I could do it under 2 hours but it was fairly easy this morning
