His twitter picture says "Beat Dook" with a Carolina blue background. The dude hates duke, therefore is a Wal-Mart UNC fan.
I never said the dude was a bad writer. He's just a tool. 3/2/2012 5:08:59 PM |

Quote : | "Smith, the first coach at a major Southern university to recruit and play a black player, promptly stuck Charlie Scott and all his offensive firepower within the confines of the Four Corner offense." |
Huh? Is that even true? Everything I can find just says Scott was the first black scholarship player at UNC.
Looks like its false. Seems a few schools beat him to the punch by a year...
Quote : | "But he was not the first African-American to play in the league. Nor was he the second, or even the third. Maryland's Julius (Pete) Johnson and Duke's Claiborne both played varsity basketball in 1966-67, a year ahead of Scott." |
http://www.indyweek.com/indyweek/crossing-the-line/Content?oid=1191646
And Claiborne appears to have been recruited to some degree...
Quote : | "Newman watched slender, 6-2 Claudius Claiborne in action, and immediately phoned Duke assistant Chuck Daly, a particular friend. “Chuck is a clothes horse, that’s how we got to know each other,” Newman recalled. Daly came to Danville and watched Claiborne play. “Chuck looked at him for about 60 seconds, and said, ‘He could be our sixth man.’ ”" |

I think Simmons is okay. I like reading his NBA articles, but not much else. My main complaint about him is his David Wright voice.

Quote : | "3. The Zebra Stampede
There are three kinds of game officials in college basketball. There are the professional incompetents, the egomaniacal showboats, and the overworked immortals. (I swear that Ed Hightower is the only referee still alive who was heckled by James Naismith when the latter was coaching at Kansas.) These categories are not mutually exclusive. There are professional incompetents who are also egomaniacs. There are showboats who work 100 games a year.
And then, of course, there's Karl Hess.
The ACC tournament just past is a perfect precursor to the fact that some team's One Shining Moment is going to be ruined by incompetence, egomania, overwork, or some combination of the three. There was the ludicrous no-call on what would prove to be the winning basket for North Carolina over N.C. State. But even worse, and little remarked upon, was the towering choke at the very end of the other semifinal between Duke and Florida State. The latter held a three-point lead with barely over a second left, and the FSU player inbounding the ball threw it up for grabs at midcourt, gambling that the ensuing scramble would eat up the clock. The scramble ensued, and Duke's Seth Curry wound up with the ball, whereupon he took at least three steps with the ball literally under one arm before launching a shot that damned near tied the game. He looked like Ray Rice breaking the containment on a sweep. And he did this right in front of the referee. Had the shot fallen, as it nearly did, this would now be another Shining Moment, even though the referee clearly choked on one of the most obvious walks in the history of the game. It will happen again in the tournament. And more than once." |

Quote : | "I slink into the Beacon at 7:20 p.m. The first thing I see is a huge poster promoting a memoir from Creed vocalist Scott Stapp. The book is titled Sinner's Creed: The True Story of Fame, Grace, and Redemption as Only Scott Stapp Can Tell It. The interior theater doors don't open until 7:30, so people are milling around the lobby, drinking beers and frozen margaritas. Obviously, this is an older, balding crowd; one guy has brought his own homemade popcorn in a cylindrical Tupperware container, which is something you probably wouldn't see at a Japandroids show. I'm shocked by the distance some of these people have traveled to see this concert. One couple (George and Stacey Wilson-Howell) flew in from Dubai, a 15-hour flight. "Just a flick of his sweat," Stacey tells me. "That's all I want. Just a flick of Scott Stapp's sweat." This sentiment symbolizes his fame, her grace, and my redemption (as only Scott Stapp can tell it)." |

Quote : | "It's hard to get inside the existential paradox of Kroeger's life on tour: Every day, he gives interviews to journalists and radio DJs who directly ask him why no one likes his band. Every night, he plays music to thousands of enraptured superfans, many of whom love him with a ferocity that's probably unhealthy. Every concert ends with a standing ovation; if he feels motivated, he spends the remainder of the night partying with forgettable strangers who will remember him for the rest of their lives. Eventually, Kroeger falls asleep. And then he wakes up in a beautiful hotel room, only to read new articles about how everyone in North America hates his band.
There is not one part of his life that's real." |

i think jacoby is good w/ jalen rose, where his thing is he asks him the types of questions that i want him to ask and then just lets him talk and agrees w/ whatever he says.
but i did not enjoy him at all kevin wildes, and i normally enjoy kevin wildes.
i also don't care at all about reality tv, so half of everything he says is annoying right off the bat. 8/4/2012 4:54:11 PM |
