See, I wasn't going to respond at all until you added this. Little platitudes like this are why critical thinking is considered trolling. "Too coincidental" "Too peculiar". I humbly disagree, but at the sake of not infecting anyone else in this thread with any more terrible rational thought, I'll refrain.

And let the demons out of their imprisonment in those tables, into the real world? That's crazy! Because you know a demon aint gonna spend eternity in a coffee table watching people counting their change and eating their microwave dinners if he has choice, he was trapped there for sure.

^^Oh, I'm fully willing to admit that it doesn't stand up to critical thinking. You're welcome to disagree and I don't feel it's trolling at all. In fact you're probably right, I just choose to practice a small suspension of disbelief here. The world would undoubtedly be a better place if I didn't, but my troubled mind rests a little easier because of it. And if that makes me a bad person so be it.

Ahh screw it, I've got a story too. Still messes with me to this day

So my grandfather worked at a meat-packing plant in Bristol, Va as an inspector. He usually left out by 7am and was back around 4 or so. My brother and I were up at his house one summer, spending a week with him and my grandma. My Aunt had driven up from GA to spend time with them too. (Now it's important to note that my Aunt claims to have all sorts of paranormal stuff happen to her. She's got stories that will give you nightmares for years...)

It was around noon one day, and my brother and I were watching TV out in the living room. The house was pretty much empty except for us and our Aunt -- Grandpa was at work, Grandma at the doctor. My aunt, who had been in her bedroom up until that point, comes out to the den and asks us why Dick (our grandpa) came home so early. We told her we hadn't seen him, and we'd been up since about 9am. She said she swore she saw him walking down the hall just 10 minutes ago. He apparently went into his room, sat down on the bed, and didn't say a word. (Our Aunt's bedroom door was catty-corned to his door, so you can see a little bit into his room). She yelled "you're home early" from her room, but never got a response. Eventually, she got up to go do something and peeked in his room, but he was gone. Her guess was the he came home from work to get something on his lunch break and had already headed back out. We just shrugged and went back to watching TV.

It wasn't 10 minutes later we got a knock on the door. It was a few people from Grandpa's work. According to them, he'd had a heart attack and died earlier that morning...

There's a few other things that happened later that night, weird things, but I'm not going to get into that. Anyway, it all happened. I don't know exactly what my Aunt saw that day, but she won't talk about it anymore.

"Anyone ever done the ghost tour in historic Beaufort? They claim that at night you can't take a picture of Blackbeard's house because your camera won't turn on, but as soon as you leave the camera will work. When we finished the tour I made my husband walk back to the house and sure enough, my camera wouldn't turn on. I always wondered if they had some sort of electronic blocking device set up in the front yard, but I can't imagine one that would only target cameras. We also did the tour before cell phone cameras existed so I wonder if it applies to cell phones now as well."

It's so weird that you say that, because I was just in Beaufort and as soon as I got in front on Blackbeard's house my camera stopped working.

j/k lol I live in the real world where things like that don't happen. I also live in a world with Google.

^^ To this day I have no idea why my camera stopped working. It could be because it was a shitty digital camera that used AA batteries and it was just a coincidence. But when I tested the batteries in an alarm clock they worked fine

True but they were fresh batteries. So my thinking was, "Dammit, did I just buy these fucking batteries and they don't even work " but they did in things other than the camera and the next morning they worked in the camera. Twas strange.

A girl died in 1933 by a homicidal murderer. Bruce Campbell buried her in the ground when she was still alive. The murdered chanted, "Clatu Verata necktie" as he buried her. Now that you have read the chant, you will meet this little girl. In the middle of the night she will be on your ceiling. She will suffocate you like she was suffocated. If you post this, she will not bother you. Your kindness will be rewarded.

I have some personal stories while i was attached to the CGC DALLAS in Charleston, SC.

The ship is over 40 years old, has been to Vietnam, picked up migrants on numerous occasions and has had a few fires kill people etc. people say they hear whispers of the spirits of migrants begging for their life in spanish when outside because they don't want to go back to cuba.

One night at around 3am, i was on watch with one other girl. we were doing a round, which involved going through the engine room and a number of other spaces. we were inport and no one else was awake and most of the crew was not there. as we passed through the engine room to one of the compressed air spaces, we heard a male voice yell "Noooooooooo!" we both froze, looked at each other, and tried to find out where it came from. when we couldnt, we ran like hell. The next morning, we asked someone about it and apparently an engineer had died years ago in a fire in the engine room. he had been running down a set of steep narrow stairs, fallen, and broken his neck.

another time i was on watch by myself in the middle of the night and stopped on the messdeck (dining area) for a glass of milk. we have a clipboard that we use to keep track of all the gauges and thermostats that i placed on a table to get a glass. when i came back to it, not 30 secs later (mind you, no one else is there) the pages were all screwed up. i left quickly.

a friend of mine was doing a different round one night while we were at sea when he walked past a person he didnt recognize in older looking uniforms. this was on the outside of the ship on one of the walkways. when he turned around to talk to the guy, he was gone. people have had similar stories about people wearing the old style uniforms disappearing from the flight deck or fantail (back of boat).

on another occasion, a girl was doing her round when she had to come through the engine room. she was going down the steep narrow stairs mentioned earlier when she felt like someone was watching/following her. when she turned around, in her flashlight beam was a persons face. she ran like hell and had to be transferred because she was so scared.

a friend of mine from a different boat had a story about a boat stationed in Hawaii. years ago, there was a chief that used to go into the girls sleeping area and spy on them while they were sleeping. years later, they swapped the girls sleeping quarters with the guys. apparently the chief had died and still crept around the former girls sleeping area. my friend got off watch one night around 4am and went to bed. no sooner had he laid down and closed his curtain when it was ripped open. he jumped out of bed and no one was there and he started screaming and waking everyone up.

about a year ago, a close friend of mine died. he got me hooked on Deadliest Catch. on the season opener of the series this year, i asked my bf if he though the friend was watching deadliest catch with us. at that moment, the lights in the room started flashing like crazy. so i guess he was there.

"And the last thing that was fairly crazy is my mom dreamed the way my uncle would die a couple months before he died. He was a construction worker that would be harnessed up the side of skyscrapers. Not sure if that makes sense and she dreamed that he he would not fasten the harness well enough and he would fall to his death. She never told him about that because she just thought it was a really bad dream. Well, that happened. He fell about 300 ft to his death (broke his neck).
"

You do realize that it makes perfect sense for your mom to dream about your uncle dying by falling to his death, when he has a job where there is an obvious risk of him falling to death?

It would be like if you dreamed of qntmfred dying by having a computer explode on him, because he works around computers all day.

It would have been more amazing if your mom dreamed of your uncle dying by something very implausible, and then that thing happening.

And overalls and a flannel shirt are pretty generic things for a person from 25 years ago to wear, in certain parts of the country.

In early April, 2009, I found a population of endangered frogs in rural SC on property they had never been noted. I spent about 2-3 hours wading in a pond trying to capture a couple to put transmitters on at some later point. A good friend in his 50s who taught me just about everything I now about my job as a reptile/amphibian tech waited at his truck, excited to see what I brought. I would occasionally get a text message from him while I was out in the pond.

After I finished up, having only caught 2 of the frogs, he told me the only reason he was able to stick around was because he was watching mysterious lights moving in the distance, over the treeline in ways that man-made aircraft can't move. He was dead serious, and I can't help but believe him.

That was near the end of the two years I worked in and around this very rural site. From the time that I moved there, however, I would often cruise roads for snakes late at night and I would often see streaks of light in the sky out of the corner of my eye. For all I know they could have been shooting stars or reflections from road reflectors bouncing off my windows.

Another time, when I was in my teens, my bed was up against a window. I would often stare out into the sky at night. One night, there was an extremely bright light I saw in the sky. Not a sound, granted I was looking through my closed window. I lived on the edge of Huntersville (suburb of Charlotte back when it was first starting to get developed, still dominated by cow fields) at the time, and in the direction I saw the light move was little other than farmland. The only thing I can say about it that seemed conspicuously human was that it moved in a straight line at a slow and steady pace. It was really probably nothing but the brightness of the light was brighter than anything I've seen.

I wonder if theDuke has ever seen anything while up in the skies.

Blackbeard's house has always intrigued me.. I wish I could remember the whole story of the girl who was hanged in his yard, or something similar to that.

Once at my dad's old house (I think I was 14 or 15), I sat motionless (but wide awake) in my bed for hours because it seriously sounded like someone was walking in the room. Almost like they were taking really slow footsteps (as if trying not to creak the floor, but it did creak). To this day just thinking about it creeps me out because I always felt like it was a real person in that moment. I made myself jolt up in bed, turn on the light, and run out of there at a specific time. I only remember flipping on the light then hauling ass to my dad's room, and once I got there I collapsed and started bawling. It never occurred to me it could have been a paranormal experience until recently..

i wonder how many people's encounters relating to floor cracking are due to heat/cold expansion/contraction

my DLP tv cracks like a mofo, sometimes loud as hell like something is thumping it really hard, but im sure internal temperature is the culprit, sometimes ill just grab it and bend it around a little to get all the snaps, crackles and pops out, usually works

Lately I have been noticing a thump in the attic above my bedroom every morning. Typically I wouldn't think anything of it, but it happens at exactly 7:10 AM every morning. I haven't done any exploring, but I think tomorrow morning I am going to wake up at 7 and head up to the attic. I will keep you posted on the results.

When I was in 3rd grade during recess there was this field where all the kids would play football/soccer/baseball. One day there was this rather large shadow that was shaped in perfect circle on one side of the field. There weren't any other shadows around it and I looked around to see what could be causing the shadow but I couldn't find anything. I looked for a good 2 minutes. I think that was the first "weird" thing that I have ever seen. I shrugged it off and continued playing with my friends.

I grew up in Fredericksburg, VA, which as many of you know is mostly known for its Civil War history. In fact, the Episcopal Church down the road from my house was a hospital for both the Union and the confederacy. When they transformed it into a church, they kept the hospital bays in tact, simply sawing them down to a lower level and putting in benches. So, when you attend service, you're sitting in an old hospital bay. Some of the wood railings around the building still have teeth marks from the horses chewing on them, as at that time it was customary for horses to be brought into the place, especially in bad weather. The floor, of course, was concreted after the war, but several people were buried in the there as well, and those graves are marked on the wall as you walk in. Interesting enough, that very same site was where Pocahontas hid John Smith for quite sometime from her father when he was captured.

There are all sorts of stories around that place, from hearing indian drums to seeing faces in the windows. There's one in particular that involves the belltower - apparently a reporter from the Free Lance Star went up there one night while doing in investigation on urban legends, and fell backwards down the stairs. She maintained that she was pushed, but either way, it's creepy.

As far as personal stories, only one comes to mind that sticks out in particular. When I dropped out of college back in 02, I took a job in the ER of Mary Washington Hospital - basic security work. Unfortunately this involved working all hours, sometimes til midnight or later depending on the needs. One night in late spring/early summer, there was a ton of Fog on the drive home - so much that I had to take it slow around some of those back roads I took on the way home. I'm probably 2-3 miles away from the battlefield at this point, when approach a curve and see 2 figures walking on the side of the road. As I get closer, sure as shit, it appears to be 2 confederate soldiers in full gear. One had his head down... the other looked up at me.

I freaked the fuck out.

Instead of stopping, I hit the gas and got the hell out of there as fast as I could.

I rounded 2 more curves and saw an early 90's model GEO Metro with it's lights on and hood up, with another Civil War reenactor standing next to it. I stopped this time. Turns out they ran out of gas and the other guys were heading to the 7-11 at the end of the road to get some gas.

So yeah. Ghost fail.
