^^ haha their mac and cheese is also bullshit. I was there last night and I thought to myself, "You know, I bet you the reason this reduced fat mac and cheese has less fat and calories is because it has less in the box." Sure enough, the regular mac and cheese is something like 16oz and the reduced fat is 7oz. It's easy to be 50% less fat when it's 50% less product

i thought the trader joe's label coastal cab was very drinkable for $4
and other than that, i've always found lots of good wine there -- most of it was also sold elsewhere, sometimes cheaper sometimes not, so really finding a good bottle of wine depends on your preferences (i like buttery chardonnays, for example, and they have several good ones for cheap)
and every once in awhile, they'd have something random that they bought in bulk that i would really like and it was a great deal (e.g., fife winery went out of business apparently but they were selling their petite sirah and some other reds for $7 until their supply was exhausted and i thought it was great)
i've never been to tj's in nc though, so maybe the wine selection is different

bogle, hogue, ravenswood, meridian
i can't remember which ones of these tj usually carries, but these were often my go-to buttery chards
if you want to step up in price, i really like cambria and sonoma-cutrer (pretty sure tjs has the s-c, probably not the cambria) 10/27/2011 12:31:52 PM |

Drinking their mango lassi right now.
Good, very much like restaurant lassi. Would buy again.
I like the Josefina Rose they sell. It's $5.99 and it's good enough I serve it to people if I have brunch guests. I normally buy wine from Seaboard but there's a couple TJ wines that will do in a pinch. I work near the one in Cary so it's damn convenient.

I started using coconut oil for cooking various veggies and meats. This stuff blows the crap I got from HT right out of the water and is 5 bucks cheaper. This stuff smells and tastes so much better. I could eat it out of the jar and it makes my kitchen smell awesome. Kinda strange that I find the taste of shredded coconut revolting but love this stuff. 2/7/2012 10:01:46 AM |

It does taste like coconut. I guess what I don't like about shredded coconut is the consistency. I prefer to use coconut oil over olive oil when I sautee zucchini because the taste of the coconut oil is much milder. You don't even really notice it is there. Evidently most coconut oil has added chemicals to sanitize the end product because the drying process is unsanitary. TJs uses a mechanical process to extract the oil with no chemicals. I knew the fact that it actually does taste like coconut must mean it was higher quality.
Quote : | "Coconut oil is very healthy. It is over 90% saturated fat with very little polyunsaturated fat. This means that it is extremely shelf and heat stable where other oils would oxidize and break down into free radicals.
Also, the type of saturated fat in coconut oil is mostly Medium Chain Triglycerides, which breaks down more easily than other saturated fats, and coconut oil ingestion actually has been linked to (not conclusive, but associated) faster metabolic activity." |

Ever wonder why every carton of natural, healthy, 100 percent, not-from-concentrate orange juice manages to taste exactly the same, yet ever so slightly different depending on the brand, despite containing no additives or preservatives whatsoever? The process indeed starts with the oranges being squeezed, but that's the first and last normal step in the process. The juice is then immediately sealed in giant holding tanks and all the oxygen is removed. That allows the liquid to keep without spoiling for up to a year. That's why they can distribute it year-round, even when oranges aren't in season.
