b.s. i've had my car broken into, i've had my house broken into, my parent's house was broken into twice when I lived at home, i had two bikes stolen on NCSU campus, etc. Never once did i seriously wish death upon the theif. Sure, i kinda wished pain upon them, and wouldn't them seeing them getting a good ass-beating (from someone other than a cop), but in no way did i think they deserved to be critically injured or murdered. 5/9/2012 6:54:21 PM

There's an important difference between
1. stealing something unsecured 2. breaking some shit and stealing something 3. threatening force in order to take something 4. using force
As bad as it sounds points 1-3 are perfectly consistent with a perpetrator who will not bring themselves to use force against another human. 1-2 are consistent with someone who just won't even accept a confrontation. If someone took shit from your car, know that the person avoided confronting you.
It's not a perfect world, but it ultimately comes to a violation of your property rights. Things are important, but only to a limited degree. In my mind, the two categories of crimes should be treated completely different. I mean, virtually completely different prisons for the two types. 5/9/2012 7:15:36 PM

that's an unfortunate ending for the guy peacefully trying to talk it out, but that first guy was asking for a beat down when he didn't sit his ass still

AND THEY WERE CLEARED ON ALL CHARGES.
http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/13/us/california-homeless-beating-verdict/index.html?hpt=hp_t1
Quote : | "Los Angeles (CNN) -- A jury has acquitted two former Fullerton, California, police officers on trial in the beating death of Kelly Thomas, a mentally ill and homeless man. The verdict was read in a Santa Ana courtroom Monday afternoon. Eight women and four men began deliberating the case on Thursday. The beating of Thomas in a transit parking lot was recorded by security cameras on the night of July 5, 2011. The surveillance camera footage shows Thomas being beaten, clubbed and stunned with a Taser by police. The video sparked a nationwide outcry. Former officer Manuel Ramos was charged with second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. A second former Fullerton officer, Jay Cicinelli, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and excessive use of force. Both were found not guilty on all charges. In closing arguments, Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas told jurors that Ramos bore responsibility for Thomas's death because he issued a threat to the uncooperative homeless man. Ramos can be seen on the surveillance video putting on gloves and shaking his fist in Thomas' face." | ] 1/13/2014 8:28:46 PM

That cnn video is inconclusive.
The Ramos guy should at least be charged with assault for the fists comment.
But when you have a strung-out looking homeless guy violently resisting arrest, unfortunate things happen.
I'd want to see how the confrontation started to give my final 2 cents though. 1/13/2014 10:38:20 PM
