that place has always been a shithole, however the only time I have been there was with my friend James who is a large black man.

are they under new management or something?

Obviously it's a systematic representation of the management, ownership, and entire staff, thus the whole place should be shut down immediately.

well in the story it spoke of the bartender snatching dude up and throwing him out when he says he was just standing waiting on a friend to get out the bathroom

does that change the civil status?

Same type of shit would happen at this club in downtown Norfolk, VA. Word spread, there was a writeup in the paper about it, people stopped going to the club.

I think Farenheit was the name of the club

This place was
-charging blacks more than whites to enter
-kicking black people out for no reason
-selectively enforcing a dress code, using that to either not admit or to kick out black

Its private property so you can remove someone with force that is reasonable. Officer wasn't there so they can't determine the reasonableness and/or make a warrantless arrest. It is also the bouncer's word v. the patron's word - so they can go obtain charge(s) if they feel its necessary.

This place sucks, and I would never go there again. That has nothing to do with this unfortunate event but hopefully it will help lead to DTSB's demise.

Some people are just inherently prejudiced. You can't really even blame the individuals as much as their environment. Its more a way of life for some folks than any concentrated effort. Its depressing, but such is life in The South.

Weird how the best sports bar in Raleigh by a wide margin (Tobacco Road) is pretty much right next to the worst "sports bar" in the world (Downtown "Sports Bar")..

I didn't even know this place existed.

Guessing it is where stool pigeons used to be.

And this is why people hate police officers at times. You make people feel helpless when you know you could have assisted. Lazy assholes trying to minimize "paperwork". I'm PAYING YOU to do that paperwork.

^ What's a cop supposed to do in a he-said vs he-said issue? They can't assist in this case and the last thing I want my taxes paying for is to have an entire police department filling out paperwork for a whole bunch of unresolvable civil issues.

Either way, if this bar only wants to admit all white, blonde hair blue eyed people, they have that right and a cop can't do anything about that. We'd hope that the court of public opinion would take over and prove that the racists mindset is a great way to lose money in a high-rent bar district like Glenwood South.

Sounds like this guy is getting his due justice as he has successfully energized a large public outcry against bars like this in Raleigh.

Just trim a little fat of the state constitution and they will be more than willing to help. What is an officer going to do? He can't testify to anything he didn't see and can only make a warrantless arrest for something that occurs in his/her presence unless its a felony, domestic related, and few others.

Better question is why would a upstanding young man have a lawyer on retainer?

maybe a young gentleman interested in such higher education as Harvard would have other friends that may have gone to law school?

I mean I have lots of lawyer friends that would take my cases if I ever had any

Why are people pissed off about a roundabout being reduced to one lane? I don't get it. Should have been designed for one lane from day one.

every single lane has a picture of what you can do from that lane. it's really not difficult to navigate.

doesn't mean people are going to pay attention... I liked two lanes, but I feel much safer with it being one due to idiots not knowing what the hell was going on there

I suspect most of the idiots who couldn't figure out the two lane roundabout will struggle with the one-lane as well.

maybe it shouldn't be that difficult to navigate, but the amount of wrecks that have happened there are proof that is difficult for many to navigate.

let's not forget that the concept of 'inner' and 'outer' beltline was too advanced of a concept for enough people that they changed it to an inaccurate directional nomenclature.

i don't think the council will have any issues with food trucks downtown as long as they can reach an agreement on location with the Downtown Alliance.

the restaurants that we all love downtown are those against the food trucks. (and, from a business perspective and all the shit they have to put up with just to get by, i can't blame 'em. i don't agree with them, but i see where they're coming from)
