I guess in 2015 I'll have to help plan a class reunion.

My 10 year (holy shit that was 3 years ago now...)was presented in three parts--go to a football game Friday night, sit together, and go to a bar afterward ($game admission), a bbq lunch at a park on Saturday afternoon ($15 I think?) and a sit-down dinner and dancing later that evening ($40 maybe?). The dinner/dancing was canceled for lack of interest, unsurprisingly. It was worth $15 to see some folks I had lost touch with though, and to see how some others turned out. But I had about the right size class where there wasn't anyone I didn't know, but a lot of folks that I hadn't spoken to since graduation (we graduated 174).

The orientation counselors weren't helping people find places or anything, just hanging out with themselves. And all the presentations were shit I could read (and had already) on the website."

Lol they have transfer orientation there? I transferred into UNCW but I never paid a fee or went to any sort of orientation. What year did you transfer in?

Ours is in a few weeks. Bunn High does a full weekend of events. Homecoming football game friday night, price of ticket, then an adults only event saturday night, 40 bucks pp dinner at Solas private room cash bar, and then a family picnic sunday, bring a covered dish, children, parents, pets, whatever. Im not doing any of it most likely.

I think Slave Famous nails it

I prefer them to exist only as memories, reminders of a simpler time. Kinda like when someone dies young...you always remember them as the age they died, not how old they would be now.
"

But everyone in here has talked about the money as a reason for not going, but I think it's only an excuse. I mean $50 or $75 for something that rolls around every 10 years? Let's admit it, it's frickin awkward, the women are fat with short hair, and everyone talks game to impress everyone else when deep down inside they've done nothing. Although I haven't had a reunion yet.

i still see the people i was friends with in high school. i don't really give a shit about everyone else. mine hasn't come up but i don't have any compelling reasons to go when it does, especially if i have to pay.

Enloe's was $15, but we had a class of 500 or so...so we can probably afford to do it that way.

It's to keep the poor away. Because poverty is generational.

I didn't go to my 10 year because I wanted to go to the football game, but it was about $30 or maybe $40 at one of the downtown clubs. My sister's frined went to the same club later that night to celebrate her birthday and paid a $10 cover charge. Then she saw the cake and all of my ex-classmates inside the club. I feel bad for the people that paid all of that money to go to a place where the public was allowed in at a cheaper price.

I didn't go to mine, no clue what the cost was, I could care less about those people, and I don't feel bad about it at all.

I have facebook to make me feel better about myself

ITT twwers all are beautiful and successful

I think I'd pay up to $100 for a well-organized (and well-attended ) dance party reunion kind of thing, complete with group dances and games

if wilmington had a Dave and Buster's I would just take over planning mine and force everyone to go to a dave and busters. and charge like 60 bucks and buy coke with the profit. and then drive a speedboat out of the cape fear into a building

I see it as being the opposite. The high school reunion can be a super concentrated presentation of whatever the person wants you to see. You've got a better chance of someone dropping their guard on facebook.

Plus I'd rather get in touch with a select few people that were my friends. For reunions worst case none of your friends even show up. Best case you won't even remember most of the people that show and you'll be stuck having awkward conversations with the few people you do remember but with whom you have nothing in common.

i think $40 is on the low side

my wife's HS class has a Facebook page where people have been updating where they are in life - it's makes us feel better about ourselves

Mine had different parts as well (went to HS in Myrtle Beach):

BBQ Dinner/bar drinking Fri night
Golf outing & Beach outing Sat morning/afternoon
Dinner/open bar Sat night at hotel lounge

Had option to pay for golf and the Fri stuff, but I didn't feel like spending a whole lot of time there (beginning of Bike Week), so just went to the Sat night gathering, which was $40 a piece I believe. If it wasn't open bar, I would say it wasn't worth it. I'd have to say only about 25 old classmates were there for it (out of over 200 that graduated). Really can't understand that since probably 90% of the people still live in the area. I guess they see each other all the time with their chirren, too poor, still work in the service industry, etc.

I have no idea how much mine cost. Our SBP was hardcore religious, so the reunion ended up being an afternoon barbecue in a park with no alcohol being served. I wasn't going to go regardless, but that just made it so no one else wanted to go either.

Personally, I want to see all the train wrecks and possibly make a game out of it.

Plus, I kind of want to show off my degrees and yes I know that sounds a little messed up

Our class president is in Afghanistan, so the person in-charge of it is this girl that works at one of those fake abortion clinics where they tell women than if you have an abortion, you get cancer. She also goes to one of those speaking in tongues churches.

Have a feeling that it's going to end up being diet cokes and burgers in the gym. I sorta wanted to go just because it's the only way I can see some of my old HS friends since they live far away/have kids/are hermits now

My 10 year was pretty cool. Most of the unmarried girls who showed up were still pretty hot and brought some guy who was obviously disposable. I think the ones who got fat were too embarrassed to show. We probably had 100-150 people; maybe 35 of which were the ones I partied, played sports with, or hung out with in high school. Lots of us kept in touch for the first few years after school, but after a decade we wouldn't know each other existed if it weren't for Myspace/Facebook so it was cool to catch up if only for a little while.

Protip: Bring way more airplane bottles in your girlfriend's purse than you ever thought you'd need if it's not open bar. I only had like 15 and I ran out quickly after I drank my requisite 6. Tossing out mixed drinks at a dry party is a sure way to win friends and influence people.

mine was $50 for a single, $80 for a couple.

Friday night football game, Saturday in the park, Saturday night at the Moose Lodge.

I went to the football game, but only 4 or 5 out of 100 showed up. I didn't bother going back for the Saturday night thing.

If I wanted to catch up with anyone I went to HS with, I wouldn't need to go to the reunion to do it. There's a reason I don't live in my hometown any more.
