Someone told him his trim was flapping, he maydayed, pulled out of the race path, choked on his dentures and passed out. Also his plane was a chopped up frankenstein that was hurriedly assembled.

Ban air shows.

^^Uh oh, they've taken down his web site that showed them chopping up his plane and the article bragging about how rushed they were when they put it together. Here come the lawsuits.

I also heard from another pilot friend last night that he heard it was some sort of problem with elevator trim. I don't know that I buy that it was just that, but I heard it too.

Clipping wings for an airplane like that is totally normal.

^^^^Airplane age isn't really a big deal, and I'm pretty sure they really aren't that close to each other on that pass--it's just a play on your lack of ability to discern their respective ranges at that angle.

If you think that's scary, read up on the concept of the "merge" in a dogfight. Fighter pilots do it all the tine in training.

Yea I was down at the end of the ramp at WS and the crosses did not seem impressive at all, due to my angle. The people at show center had some better photos because they were lined up properly. But from the far angle they were basically on either side of the runway from each other. Still close but not nearly as close as it looks from center.
