You guys are coming to the same terrible realization that I have. American culture is fucked, most people are ignorant, and the most ignorant among us are the ones pumping out the most children.

It’s funny that nothing posted in this thread yet is actually reason to dislike Cain, because there are plenty of them.

1) if you look at his website: http://www.hermancain.com/h
He really needs to hire a new photographer, the one he has now doesn’t use the most flattering pictures

2) The “Spending” policy section literally doesn’t have a single factual statement. It reads like the ranting of pack_bryan or one of our other equally retarded Soap Boxers here on TWW.

on a related note, on his 999 page (looks a lot like 666 upside down…), he talks about merging the “flat taxers” and “fair-taxers” but what does this mean? these 2 groups of people splintered from each other, it makes 0 sense to try and merge them. “fair-taxers” are far more similar to the ideals of progressive taxation, than the dumb ideas of flat-taxers.

3) His energy policy is a joke, and not based in reality. I’m amazed the Tea Party supports his blatant corporate shilling, which is supposedly one of the things they should oppose. Although I do agree with removing the ethanol subsidy. That was just pandering to the Corn Lobby, one of the more damaging forces in our politics.

4) He wants to eliminate the capital gains tax, as if this somehow will somehow help things in the current recession. This will only set the stage for a new lending bubble, and shift the tax burden very heavily onto the middle class.

5) There may be a point buried in his health care views, but it’s hard to decipher on his blindly partisan political invective. Kind of makes his whole “unity” claims irrelevant.

6) the “Faith and Family” completely mischaracterizes American history, it’s amazing that level of misinformation has stuck on his site for so long. I’d think he has people making sure he’s making sense, but perhaps he hasnt gotten that far yet?

Cain seems, by far, to be the most Corporatist candidate in the race. All of his policies are designed to make life harder on most Americans, while transferring power away from the citizenry and into the hands of big business and corporations. I’d be more concerned if i thought he had any chance at all of winning, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

i agree with you, but this will NEVER EVER EVER happen...EVER

the fact is that parties make it easy to choose the candidate you will likely agree with the most overall...since there's no single candidate that will ever support my views 100%, i can say without a doubt that i will agree with a democrat MORE than i will agree with a republican (i am neither, though i've only ever voted dem for the reason i just stated)...it does serve a purpose

and that's why i can say that i GENERALLY don't like those people who identify with the republican party because their viewpoints most frequently annoy me in their naïveté

moron,

thanks for highlighting all those points herman cain clearly describes (despite your very deeply rooted hatred for all things republican) that really helped me as a citizen to make an informed choice for president. i urge others to do the same without a politically motivated mind.

i took the time to read through every single point you stated, and after doing so there is no doubt in my mind that herman cain is the best choice at the moment to become commander in chief and president

Yeah, there's no way you have seriously studied each candidate's positions and come to this conclusion. Someone is peddling Herman Cain to you, and I'm wondering who it is.

moron. you have a lot of predictable opinions about everything you say.

it's based on the fact that you are a democrat and will always be one no matter what they as a party believe.
you move with that mass of opinion no matter what it is. you will always be a part of it and will always blindly support it. it's an interesting behavioral phenomena we see in a lot of modern day liberals like yourself. you have no mental capacity to change nor would you ever even if it was beyond proof shown to you. it's a team mentality. you are emotionally connected and invested in your side winning.

http://www.ibopezogby.com/news/2011/09/26/ibope-zogby-poll-perry-plummets-18-trails-cain-lead-among-gop-primary-voters/

Quote :
"Sep 26, 2011
UTICA, NY--Rick Perry has tumbled by more than 20 percentage points over the past month among Republican presidential primary voters and is now second to Herman Cain, who leads the field with 28%.

Mitt Romney received little benefit from Perrys fall, garnering 17% of the vote for third place.

As for President Barack Obama, both his job approval (42%) and the percentage who believe he deserves re-election (37%) are little changed from recent polls, but he does seem to be winning back some supporters who have been disappointed in his job performance.

These results are from an IBOPE Zogby interactive poll conducted Sept. 23-26 of all likely voters and of likely Republican primary voters."

Why is Cain's 9-9-9 plan and flat tax a bad idea?

capitals gains aren't taxed. What does this mean in real-world terms? The top 1% of tax payers pay substantially LESS taxes than the other 99% of us.

If income is taxed at 9% and consumption is taxed at 9%, that's effectively 18% federal tax rate on 90% of us (which is a tax increase for 80% of us), and from ~17% --> ~2% tax rate for the top 10% (actually DECREASING as you increase in income).

Not only is this policy regressive, it's extremely regressive.

If you think it's fair for 90% of Americans to pay ~18%, but the richest 10% of Americans to pay less than this, then by all means, vote for Cain.

If you understand mathematics, and realize this is a senseless plan, look at the other candidates.

The current, broken system:
(note: Cain's plan would make this far worse)

The red bars are what would NOT be taxed AT ALL under Cain's plan:

This is another way to visualize the previous graph but shows changes throughout history, the dark areas will NOT be taxed under Cain's plan:
http://visualecon.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/income_cap_gains_top_01.gif
(too big to inline)

How much Americans save. The most we've ever saved was in 1944, ideally we should be back at 1979 levels. Considering Cain wants to raise our taxes, this would make saving far more difficult for all but the wealthiest Americans.

If you love giving more of your money to the federal government, vote for Herman Cain. If you want to keep more of your own money, pick someone else. It's high-school level math peoples.
