In 15 years when your kids wanna see pictures of your wedding you wont break out a photo album, you'll get on facebook. It's like having a high school yearbook for every year of your left. shits bananas

Dude, I know how you feel on that one.. 2010 was a year for me

got engaged , got interviews at most of the schools I applied to , visited said schools (some , some , some NOs), wait listed , denied , last minute trip to Bama , GOT IN , engagement party , moved / , lost weight , lost a friend , made good grades

This is and has been the only reason I have an account. I don't understand the obsession with running to facebook to post some random event in your life and then believe that people actually care about it. Maybee I am just jaded, but to me it just seems too fantastical. On FB, you can easily just defriend someone, or ignore them, but not so much in the real world.

^4 this is the entire reason of changing the home page to the way it is now

people automatically hate it without thinking about it, but it tones down the people you don't really care about (or interact/stalk, at least) and puts the people you care about in front of you, more easily.

I'm trying to organize the new timeline and have a question for you all.

I took a vacation in August and added that to my timeline as a 'life event'. I had a couple photo albums already on there from this vacation, but I want to lump them all together instead of separate entries.

Any idea if that can be done? it looks like I can give the travel event a photo, but can't associate a whole album with it

I like the timeline thing...but I'd probably prefer it if they kept the old profile layout/style and just added the timeline as another way to view someone's activity...just like you can look through their photos, info, etc. You should be able to browse their timeline, rather than having the timeline as your main profile layout. If the makes sense.

Looking back through my timeline is pretty interesting...but I don't post many status updates, so it's hard to link my facebook activity to actual events in my life. Still neat though.

i switched to the timeline, loved it, and never looked back

but i don't use facebook like the rest of you; it's a scrapbook of jokes and shenanigans between me and marko. the best stuff gets a star like grade school and it shows up fuckin big

add: regarding the journal thing, the whole purpose is facebook wants you to go back and add shit in like "i went boating off in 2003 (tag it with a pic) and it was awesome"

in a perfect world, facebook wants us to all go boating off, play boating off apps whilst boating off, and then share with others that we're boating off in hopes that they'll boat off, too, all the time, so that boating off companies' ad revenue increases.

but sadly, there was no facebook prior to 2005. with timeline, you can rewrite your own history, even add a picture on your birthdate of you being born on a boat
