ha. Command line was used only to root it, then you are able to rely on the development community to create apps for rooted users (thanks to an uncensored market). I am hardcore bro, come at me - but don't taze me.

Also, lol @ pfftt

/thread.

'problems' with iphone
-i can't root it and therefore can't customize - lol,yeh you are sitting there all day writing custom OS features
-i can't change the battery - you won't ever have to either lol

problems with other phones
-hang on, this part is gonna take a few weeks. brb

You're the one constantly complaining about plastic, but the plastic on the back of most androids is tougher than the back of an iphone so what's the issue?

One of the complaints some people have about the galaxy S 2 is that the back feels fragile, but you're not gonna break that shit
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErXqnQKs-tA

And if you want to tow a yacht then a Ferrari is a pretty terrible choice in car.

I'm surpised at the number of people touting apple's build quality when my iPods have been so shitty. they go out after 2 years like clockwork, either from bad memory or bad batteries. I also hate the propietary cable system they use for charging; micro-USB would be so much easier.

are the iPhones, iPads, and iMacs really built better than the iPods, or is this just more typical apple fanboy hype?

The battery went bad on my old iPhone about a year into ownership. That was the last straw and even though I got it repaired, I never used it again.

oops. sorry i found a video where you just need a screwdriver and steady hands. my bad. i didn't mean to google that.

ha. oh i accidentally started using drop box and good reader and iCloud on my iphone so i guess there's no chance for me to save GB after GB of files on new memory.. damn.

the fact of the matter is... Ive had several shitty LG, Motorola, and Samsung devices and have heard far less complaints from iPhone users... I replaced my LG Voyager (yeah, not a smartphone but still) once, my Moto Droid 2x, and now I refuse to pay to replace the Samsung because its gonna cost $$ for issues with the device that are not my fault.

iPhone would replace it fo free with little hassle. and from reviews/user testimonials, I wouldnt have to replace it anyway.

'it just works'

someone come at me with an argument for an Android/Verizon device that can offer me what iPhone can?

I love Android, don't get me wrong, and I'll apologize again for prefacing this argument incorrectly when it really is just shitty device after shitty device. But hopefully you all are seeing my source of frustration and realize its not [entirely] user error and I've come into some serious bad luck with Android devices.

I have a 5-year-old iPod 5G that still works great. I used to go running with it (which you're not supposed to do since it has a hard drive), and it still works great.

On the other hand, my 2 year old iPhone 3GS' volume control fell off a week ago. Otherwise it still works great.

And yet you were complaining about how "complicated" it was to root an android.

Seems like you're willing to forgive extra hassle from an apple product though.

because it's not humanly possible that I've had multiple iPods fail for different individual reasons, nope, not at all. I must be talking about one ipod that died from multiple causes all at once.

a big old LOL at you equating batteries and memory on a sealed electronic device to oil and tires on a car. I'd hate to see what you consider wear items on an iPhone, the screen and the back casing?

changing oil/tires on a car is relatively simple and the devices (cars) are made so that such maintenance can be performed by the user, or a third party.

On the other handle, apple's batteries are not relatively simple to change and require a trip to the manufacturer.

I mean, if you want to go with this car analogy, then you'd have to have a car that would require going back to the manufacturer to be disassembled to have this maintenance performed.

Or we can stick with batteries. Changing a car battery is easier than changing an iDevice battery.

I've used my DroidX for almost a year now and I love it.

The ONLY issue I have had is that the memory card shipped with the phone was a 16GB Class 2. I recently swapped to a 32GB Class 10 and all of my storage issues went away.

I contend that 147% of all Android issues are hardware and/or user related.

And I've had 3 different iPhones over the last 4 years and dropped them dozens of times with nothing more than a couple of minor scratches.

Funny how there are both good and bad stories to be told on both sides, eh?

I wonder if the hole in the gorilla glass for a physical button hurts the structural integrity significantly?

Although it should hurt the international version of the Galaxy S2 also (the one they used) since it also has a physical button, so I wonder if the US versions are tougher?

^^Hmm. Imagine that. You've seen more cracked screens on the world's most popular phone than any other. I wonder why that is.

just picked up a 4s during lunch. they said they had a couple left lol.

coworker with an android was playing with SIRI for a good 10 minutes just now. the look on his face was obvious. your eyes and smile don't lie when you are using it.

pwnt.

my only complaint is that it does seem to take a second or so when parsing long voice commands or complex sentences. i guess that's why they are keeping it on the new hardware. dunno. time to investigate.

Oh, just a little FYI, last weekend I was in airports, various planes and with tons of people. I would guess the iPhone:Android/other ratio was 20:1

maybe more to be honest like 50:1

enjoy the android. can't wait till they make a decent phone. i'd gladly check it out. something u guys are above saying about apple.
