100 VIPs being held until lineup is announced.

Anyone who bought one during the presale yesterday is being offered a refund if they'd rather wait and see the lineup.

Both good moves.

glad they are doing this

took advantage of it

I still don't agree with you, because without this option I'd still go ahead and buy one.

However, if there's no added benefit to having one now, and they're not going for a full pre-lineup sellout to help get a better lineup, why am I giving them my money interest-free?

the added benefit is that you might not get one when they go back on sale. 100 tickets is next to nothing and will be sold in 10 minutes. Especially since 500+ people are all just going to "wait" now and be on the computer @ 10am on the april sale date. Best of luck to you, but if you don't get what you want in april don't come back on here bitching and moaning.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that there aren't 500+ people waiting to buy VIP tickets in April

just a hunch...

does anyone know how many VIP bands there are total? the answer to that would either give validity to ^^^ or ^^. either way, i got mine and won't be asking for a refund.

They just sent a tweet out saying artist announcement in late March. Wonder who we'll get. Is Bonnie Bear too big for this fest now that he's a big shot Grammy winner?

Hot Chip just got announced for Pitchfork Fest. Grayson should definitely go after Hot Chip, that'd be a fucking awesome headliner. I heard they at least inquired about booking them for the first Hopscotch, so it makes sense that they'd go after them again.

Saw them at Moogfest 2010 and it was a fucking blast. They'd rule on the plaza.

I wouldn't be surprised by a Lambchop or Magnetic Fields headlining appearance.

neither are big enough to headline. but yeah I wouldn't be super surprised if they were included somehow in the lineup. both would be good fits at Memorial.

They retweeted Danny Brown earlier. So I guess we can consider that our first semi-confirmation. Off to a good start. The hip-hop last year was garbage, so it's nice that they got Danny Brown this year (I'm assuming so at least).

i had "one life stand" on repeat for a while, whenever that came out. not saying they are the greatest, but Hot Chip can be very listenable.

^^I mean, there was like noone after Yelawolf and The Foreign Exchange. That was pretty much it for hip-hop. Can't stand Yelawolf and The Foreign Exchange is alright but nothing special IMO

Also, what's up with the Hot Chip hatred? No love for easy, fun electronic pop? And Hot Chip is most definitely bigger than Magnetic Fields. Magnetic Fields would probably be like the top non-headliner, but I can't see them headlining either unless it's like a Broken Social Scene/Panda Bear split-headliner situation on Friday night.

fuck yelawolf, i can't listen to his recordings, but his live set at lincoln was entertaining as fuck

charlie smarts made nc state proud with his set

king mez only did a short set but burned up tir na nog

apple juice kid's dj set was awesome and pretty hip hop

i missed legacy

[Edited on February 28, 2012 at 9:49 PM. Reason : and fuck danny brown]

[Edited on February 28, 2012 at 9:53 PM. Reason : The Foreign Exchange's set is mostly R&B anyway]

re: Hot Chip, i loved the warning, thought made in the dark only had one or two good tracks and the rest was trash, and then never listened to one life stand as a result of that downhill slide.

i really should give it a shot, though.

I could see Magnetic Fields being on the headlining show, but maybe not the big draw for it. I'd rather see them than Hot Chip, but I like Hot Chip enough to go to a concert with them--but not my first choice either.

Grizzly Bear would probably be my serious guess.

The names of the two headlining bands have been floating around town, but I won't post them until they've been officially announced because I'm not gonna be that guy (AKA in case I heard wrong).

Behind the music: Hopscotch 2011

Sometime early 2011:

Marvin: [on the phone] Grayson. Grayson. It's Marvin - your cousin, Marvin Currin. You know that new sound you're looking for? Well, listen to this...[holds the receiver out]

"C'MON MOTHERFUCKERS C'MON MOTHERFUCKERS C'MON MOTHERFUCKERS C'MON MOTHERFUCKERS C'MON MOTHERFUCKERS C'MON MOTHERFUCKERS C'MON MOTHERFUCKERS C'MON MOTHERFUCKERS"

yes because if someone leaked the flaming lips on the wolf web last year the flaming lips would have surely backed out.

the reason for not posting any rumors is that it's cool to know things and not post them but post about knowing them.
