How the fuck does this make any sense? "Even if they're ideologically different they'd govern the same." Well, fuck me running, no point in having elections then, because apparently everybody will govern the same.

Swing and a miss. My order of preference for the next president goes Huntsman, Obama, and then the rest of the Republican field.
If a democrat's order for preference had been John Edwards > John McCain > Barack Obama, then after Edwards got canned he should vote for McCain. Fuck a party hack who always votes based on the little letter by the name.

meh, I thought Huntsman was good b/c he spoke intelligently and to what I liked.
But it's probably better that he's out now to thin the field. I think it could be better for Ron Paul, because contrary to what Huntsman's stance indicates, I think a primary voter who wanted to vote for Huntsman will not just follow in-line to Romney. The endorsement was some serious pro-establishment douche baggery.
SC should be more interesting and useful. He didn't get the votes when he needed them, so it's time to move on.
I think run-offs should be used in the American political process. But they're not for the big stuff.
If we have an Obama-Romney race I think i'm going to spit on my ballot. 1/16/2012 8:06:27 PM |

you saying you would vote for huntsman and not romney is like preferring one shade of gray and not the other. #333333 #303030

You saying that I (and the others) will vote Democrat with Huntsman out of the race is a blatant failure of logic. 1/17/2012 5:26:53 PM |

Romney and Huntsman are two different people, with two different backgrounds, with two different views on several key issues.
How can you not see that? 1/17/2012 5:28:45 PM |

^^Oh, I probably will vote Democrat now that Huntsman's out. Partly because I want to punish the Republicans for their stupid-ass strategies the last couple of years. Partly because I don't think Obama's done a terrible job, and anyway it'd be impossible to tell because Republicans throw up road blocks for the sake of doing so over every single goddamn thing (one of the aforementioned stupid-ass strategies). And partly because I don't think Romney (or the other leftovers at this point) would be substantially different from Obama in the important domestic areas and would probably be worse in most of the international ones.
I put a lot of weight on foreign policy. Yeah, that's my chosen field and I'm biased, but the nugget of truth at the heart of all the "globalization" shit you hear all the time is that shit happening over there has real impact over here. Especially when it's so blunt as a choice between "Let's bomb Iran right now!" and "Maybe we should not bomb Iran just yet." 1/18/2012 3:26:36 AM |
