There are 14 teams with better run differentials with worse records than the Mets. I find that very interesting. We are half a game better than Toronto, +22 compared to -19.

i don't have the schedule in front of me, but i don't recall us having many blowout wins. most of our wins seem to be pretty close...and our 11 (or 12) comeback wins would suggest that most of the games are pretty close. i do remember losing by 9 or 10 to the rockies...that's about half of the run differential there. not that that makes the run differential acceptable.

edit: looking at the schedule we've had only 2 wins by 5+ runs. we've had 7 losses by 5+ runs...

Looks like we're hosting the All-Star game next year. Hopefully Wright can still attend in a Mets uniform.

Little break in the schedule the next ten days. Gotta put put up 7 of 11 type stretch before a brutal June.

This is not going to happen, right?

How's his health? I know a team that could use a third baseman next year.

He'll get a long-term deal. Pretty certain of that. He's a white franchise player in NYC with no drama.

In fact they have been saying they are already in negotiations.

Little bit of drama

I say they get it done, something along the line of 7/130. Overpaid, but you've got to keep someone after letting Reyes walk.

Letting him go would be bad for PR, bad for keeping the fan base, bad for ability to convince other players to want to come to NY.

Dickey struck out double digits in consecutive starts...pretty awesome.

That's two consecutive team shutouts (albeit against the Padres) and puts the Mets in 2nd place. Only 2.5 games out of first.

I'm not overly hopeful about a playoff appearance, but we're looking way better than anyone thought we would at this point.

I just can't see Collins letting him go out there for the 9th... but knowing Johan, he'll throw a FIT if he can't. He's a gamer and will have to be chained up not to go out there again.

Smoke and mirrors.

They have dick as far as position prospects though Flores is finally hitting FSL pitchers but the top four of Wheeler, Harvey, Familia and Mejia is a sick quartet of young potential.

Quote :
"Well, let’s do this CSI style:

The clues:

Team: Mets. Possible culprits: 25

Since he is showering that day, it likely narrows it down to one of the ten players who appeared in Friday night’s game.

Race: White. Torres, Santana, Quintanilla – you’re out.

Penis status: circumcised

Pubes status: shorn. The penis is likely attached to an unmarried player who still feels as though he needs to impress the ladies

Height: Unknown, BUT we can see that the top of his penis stands at precisely 5.5 blue bricks from the ground, less 5 x 1 inch = 5 inches for the caulk (heh) between the bricks. Assuming these are painted cinder blocks, which run 8 x 8 x 16 inches, we can infer that the apogee of his dong is 39 inches from the ground. The top of my own penis stands 36.5 inches from the ground, and at 5’11?, that runs at a ratio of 51.4% of my height. Extrapolating that ratio to 39 inches, our penissy pal likely stands approximately 6’3 and 3/4?.

Handedness: Left (in the video, the player can be seen to be carrying a towel in his left hand, and his right hand to be empty).

Discussion: We have on our hands a left-handed, caucasian, 6’4? circumcised player from Friday night’s game.

Conclusion: The only caucasian, unmarried, left-handed throwing player from last night’s game was first baseman Ike Davis, who stands 6’4? and is Jewish (i.e., likely circumcised)."

RA Dickey tosses a complete game and set a new franchise record with 32.2 scoreless innings. ERA is down around 2.20 now.

All-Star game starter?

The one run happened in the 9th on an error, two passed balls, and then a fielder's choice. So the earned run streak continues.

They're also trying to say that the one hit all game was an error...if it is appealed and changed it would be 2 franchise no-hitters in one month after going 50 seasons without a single one. But it would also mean a no-hitter with a run scored, not sure if that has ever happened before.

There have been numerous no hitters in which the no-hit team scored. Ervin Santana had one just last year IIRC.

I hope Beltran appeals, too

i haven't seen a replay of the play in question. i'm assuming it will not get overturned though. the batter was bj upton, who is speedy. and from what i have read, it was a barehanded play that wright tried to make. so unless it's blatantly obvious, i don't think the mlb will overturn the call.

still, RA Dickey has been incredible this season (and most of his time with the mets). this is dickey's 2nd 1 hitter with the mets, iirc.

Having 3 straight complete games and giving up 0 earned runs during that time is pretty miraculous.

^^The Beltran question was fair vs foul, not hit vs error.
