I was really angry about it, but I couldn't do anything, I just asked him to calm down and told him I wasn't trying to pull anything.

she is a really well behaved dog, but she is a rescue and has a few quirks, also when she sees any metal weaponry she freaks out, so she was pretty ferocious that morning. But he should have thought about how he had presented himself first because i had no idea he was a cop.

I enjoy evolutionary/phylogenetic entomology where you map out the evolution of certain species and determine when a species diverged into 2 or more species and when 2 or more species converged. I also like genetic entomology as a whole anyway. I also like extension work, consulting with local growers about their pest concerns and advising them in the most effective and environmentally responsible way of protecting their crop.

I work with turf grass pests currently, but I hope to move onto a field geared more toward my interests

[Edited on January 1, 2012 at 5:23 PM. Reason : carpet hairs are gross? I vacuum once a week so take it up with my vacuum if you don't like it]

lol, no but the breed is not well recognized so I either say that or it looks like a german shepard with a smaller head. And, I am not going to lie, after months and months and months of bad behaviors being broken .... me at my wits end, I was a little proud when I found out the breed of dog they used, I don't know why. Also i am usually saying it in the John Stewart "seal team 6" george bushesque voice that he does... so don't take me so seriously

So is biogeography one of your interests as well? I figure it's kinda lumped in with the interests you stated.

What's your favorite bug/group of bugs?

Self-funded research in the middle of the woods/foreign jungle? How does that work (specifically, the self-funded part)? You plan on hitting the lottery before you head out into the woods? I gotta say I can respect that though...my goal is to do gecko research in the tropics.

1. oh this is a long story...she is extremely neurotic so any grooming task in the beginning was an injury waiting to happen. After 6 months she finally let me wipe her down with a towel. After 1.5 years she has finally allowed me to wipe off her paws (she has a serious foot phobia) and she still won't let me clip her toe nails so I have to run her on pavement pretty often. I have to say though she doesn't get into trash, beg, is house trained, and does not chew on anything that is not her toys, so there is that.

she hates men and tall people and will behave pretty aggressive toward new people, more so if the person is male or tall. At this point this is under control, however every now and then a pizza delivery guy will come by and she will freak out. Oh, and our landlord came to our house once and our doorbell was broken apparently and he just walked in and she chased him out the door. While this is a wonderful security feature in our dog, she has met him before and I had to tackle her before my landlord almost clocked her with a stick (this was like a year ago). She also grabbed the pant leg once of a room mate applicant. She immediately new it was wrong and cowered. The thing with her is that she is ALWAYS alpha, and if you are going to control her you have to be dominant ALL the time, it is tiresome.... but such a good dog (even more now that she has become less aggressive) and she would have immediately been put down in a shelter because of her aggressiveness toward strangers and medical stuff. She also is still aggressive with dogs (she was kept in a small apartment and never socialized), so this has been an uphill battle. I had her doing really well actually about 8 months after she was living here, and then our neighbor's pit bull came out of his yard while we were on our walk and bit the shit out of her on her head and just shook her around, so now we are at square - 2. But she is now at a point where she doesn't bark at dogs and only sometimes growls (she has a few arch enemies in the neighborhood that harass her and she just loves being a jerk to them too)

I do enjoy biogeography, especially in the tropics (obviously because of the biodiversity). And since the question that was ask what is my dream job, then it would be self-funded research.... how this will happen? we will see. I really would want that if I continued as a scientist because there is a lot of red tape and bureaucracy dictating university/private business research, and it is very very frustrating to me. I know you have to play politics, but it eats at me all the time. Not to sound like I am romanticizing science, but I "fell in love " with science as a whole reading about the originals, or even the E.O. Wilson generation, because there was real uncertainty but also a lot more doing, not nearly the bs that clogs everything up today. But I know I am being naive, just a dream.

how does she do at dog parks? stella growls at people she doesnt know, but thats actually less annoying than her reaction to people she does know. she freaks out whenever people she likes come over. she runs and jumps everywhere and just flips out with happiness

yea, I liked katyplus fine, then people (netstorm, smc namely) thought it was better as klatypus and then so did qtnmfred who changed it in the end... whatever, at least it makes sense/sound perverted in a weird way

she is pretty horrible at dog parks, I take her occasionally and we get close enough until she starts growling and putting her 'mohawk' up and freaking. Dog watching from a distance and telling her she is good and 'to be nice' is all that I can do at this point. She has 1 dog friend, and he is a large dog and a very playful and submissive dog, any dogs with an inkling of alpha usually ends in a fight so I never risk it. I can take her down, but when she is at maximum rage she is a bit difficult to handle and I have seen a few dog owners walking past us with faces of horror watching my dog. Then they give me an evil look when I discipline her

Bob, I never know when to take you seriously. When I kid with you, you get sad and pouty and call me mean, when I honesty answer questions that you present before me, no matter the ridiculous nature in fear of breaking your delicate one, then you tell me I am taking you too seriously and put a vampire at the end.
