I was bullied in HS by a 6'7" upperclassman

He was doing 70 in a 35 after school one day and a 10 yo ran out in front of him

he couldn't stop in time and killed the kid

I don't really count this as bullying. He wasn't responding to being bullied; he was responding to being physically attacked. It sucks that a kid died, but I can't argue the verdict (*), and my sympathy is cut short a little bit by the fact this this dipshit went out of his way to attack the kid by getting off the bus early, already knowing that the kid was armed.

* I will say that it depends on what happened once he started the cutting...if he stabbed him a dozen times in a few seconds, rapidly inflicting fatal wounds before the assailant could even retreat, then I would just call that some good knifework. If he stabbed him a time or two, and the other kid stopped/tried to get away/fell to the ground/etc, and then he just continued to stab him, then I would call that some sort of wrongful killing (though significantly mitigated by the circumstances--don't start no shit, won't be no shit.)

I love how they try to trivialize it with purposefully nebulous terminology like "bullying". Bullying is wedgies, swirlies, bad jokes about your mom, tripping you in the hallway, and generally harmless teasing.

If you got jumped by four dudes twice your size, I'm pretty sure the police report, should you live to file one, wouldn't mention anything about "bullying". This kid wasn't getting "bullied". He was fucking assaulted. Guess what assailants get in the real world? The lucky ones get to leave the hospital. Too few end up like this worthless prick. Good riddance and good on the kid for having the balls to defend himself. Hopefully the stigma from people like this blowhard's aunt won't ruin his life.

This is what happens when schools have their 'Zero Tolerance' fighting policy. Also referred to as the 'Can't defend yourself' policy.
Teachers can try their best to stop bullying. I know I did in my class room. That doesn't stop if from happening when there is less supervision in the halls/ buss lot/ cafeteria....

And yes, try and imagine the results if the bully is brought into the office and told "Now Billy, why are you picking on Johny so much? You should be his friend, and not pick on him"
=Johny gets picked on more.
"If you keep picking on him we are going to have to call your parents"
=Johny gets picked on more.
"If you keep picking on him, we will have to suspend you"
=Johny gets the shit beat out of him for complaining about being picked on.

This is how it works in the schools that I have been a student in, or taught at.
