Why do criminal negligence statutes not apply to law enforcement?

When the agency involved has to pay up monetary damages it does not really effect anyone personally, maybe a suspension or resignation, maybe somebody gets demoted. Very rarely does anyone even get fired.

Start locking up some cops for felonies and you would see some improvement.

It's sad that ultimately the taxpayers will be the ones that will pay the price for someone abandoning their responsibilities. Except, it was whole fucking lot of someones. (the wake county jail has video cameras in the holding cells, ffs.)
