^^ There are people out there worse off for sure. I know a couple of them. I was just providing an example of how the world likes to shit on people with medical issues, but the woman who couldn't even hear kids being mean to her gets a ton of money thrown at her.

I'm guessing the friend with CF had good luck getting everything covered by insurance. I know several people that were not so lucky. Hope you never need a medication that's more than you make a month and your insurance tells you it's not going to happen

There is a good chance she may decide to donate part or all of the money towards a educational programs that promote tolerance. People who live on such low income for so long are usually not very materialistic, and I doubt she will be taking a lavish vacation in Carribean. I'm much better now, and one of the other grad students in my lab recently had to get the same IV antibiotics that I couldn't afford (different dx, so they paid for his). His commentary on the experience made me feel better about not getting them, and hopefully having someone that knew what he was going through made it a little easier. Maybe we should have a fund raiser for him. He's unemployed and has an ex trying to suck him dry financially during a divorce.
