There was one other episode with Clara in it that may come up. It was the first episode of this series from back in September I think. Other than that ep you probably won't miss anything until River Song shows back up.

Any doubt that the "woman" that gave Clara the Doctor's number was River?

Hannah Hart

Saps, at most you'll miss a few in-jokes and foreshadowing; otherwise, you can just watch this season and then work your way up to it in between episodes. I'd start with "Blink" because it's such an interesting episodes. Otherwise, the first few episodes of the Ninth can be a bit silly/off-putting.

Clara Oswin Oswald is awesome! She has made me forget about Amy! I was very sad to see Amy and Rory depart, especially when Rory was just starting to get into gear but Moffat and BBC have done brilliantly to replace Amy! Clara is quirky, adventurous, and beautiful! If I ever find a woman like her in real life I will have no qualms getting married! The episode itself was weak but I feel it was more about getting to know Clara then it was about the overarching story.

I imagine that Amy and Rory were more forgotten due to the huge gap in the season.

Clara is quirky, but it feels they're giving her a slower buildup into the show.

Exactly, I keep expecting her to die and the Doctor to have to go find her again.

It's not quite as bad as "Hot Tub Time Machine" waiting for the guy to lose his arm, but each "perilous" situation, I keep wondering if she'll die again.

I really liked the Christmas special but have been disappointed with every episode since.

The submarine one was decent but I didn't care much for Hide (it could have been SO much more) and Journey to the Center of the Tardis was one of the worst of the Matt Smith years.

yeah, this last one truly disappointed me

I just don't care about Clara, really

but at least next week is a Jenny/Vastra episode... with Diana Rigg

I seriously hope it's good

I don't understand why they had to use 2 different episodes to insist on the whole this Clara is a normal human being thing.

The episodes have been pretty medicore; that said, I wonder if part of the reason for it is they're just introducing Clara and don't want to reveal too much early on. They haven't done much more than hint at "the girl who died twice" as a major arc. I wonder if we'll see more of Clara's home/past. Rose, Martha, and Donna all had fully realized home lives with family and friends and such. We have seen too much of Clara other than how I he met your her mother.

Last one was ok. The season promised so much at the beginning. Moffat needs to make more episodes. The Silence arc was so amazing that this just seems really mediocre.

I love Clara's character though. I think few people have been as spunky as she is, and none that I can remember have openly flirted with the Doctor and thrown him off his game.

Not in the same way though. Rose's dominant character trait was her kind heart. She fell for the doctor and lost interest in Mickey, but she wasn't as aggressive as Cla[h]ra is. It developed naturally whereas from her first appearance this companion has flirted with him.

Yes Clara's character has def. kept me interested. She is the perfect foil for the doctor. I feel over the last episode we have more of a direction but the main arc still hasn't been revealed. I feel someone is clearly trapping the doctor through Clara (unbeknownst to her as well). Plus I am ready for the oldest question in the Universe to be answered, I really hope its not a cliffhanger that ends the season and we have to wait till next season to hear it.

When the boy was giving directions to Strax I thought he sounded like a GPS.

Then he said his name is Thomas Thomas...as in...Tom Tom...

Whether it was a marketing plug or an attempt at a joke it didn't go well either way.

VERY excited for Neil Gaiman's screenwrite return next week. Looks like the episode has changed names (was originally going to be "Last of the Cybermen" but is now advertised as "Nightmare in Silver")

^Me three. Plus, I love just about anything Gaiman touches.

This episode didn't seem to make much sense, and while I like the oddball trio, the lack of Doctor/Clara was a bit disappointing. Clara wasn't even really needed in the episode. It pretty much served as a, "She's still the girl who died twice. Also, people are surprised to see that she's alive." I want them to delve more into her background.

I liked the concept of putting the Doctor's mind at war with itself. I think they could have spent more time with it though, as the Cyberman part of him started bringing up things from his past he allowed it to learn. One of those chances to really test the Doctor emotionally I thought they let get away. Still, good episode in an otherwise mediocre Series 7.

Was anyone else hoping the CyberDoctor was going to say "resistance is futile?" There is no denying that this episode was inspired by Piccard's Borg experience, but I found it in pretty good taste.

Having the children there was lame, especially the girl who goes from "oh I'm so excited about time travel!" to "this is so stupid" and back so quickly. They did nothing to help the story.

It's obviously a set up for the 50th anniversary episode in November. I'm thinking we may find out how River Song discovered The Doctor's true name. The version of The Doctor that reveals it must be John Hurt's version. He's either a pre-Doctor version or the last incarnation are my guesses. In addition to John Hurt it appears Billie Piper and David Tennant will be back for the 50th anniversary according to imdb.com. I also expect them to use more archived footage of previous Doctors. I think it will be the episode where The Doctor's real name is finally revealed.

A side note: If River Song spoke The Doctor's real name to open the dying TARDIS, doesn't that mean Clara now knows his name too? She was still psychically linked when River spoke it.

Wondered the same thing. There's also the question of River's continued presence despite Clara's scattering: "Spoilers."

Well technically Clara did know his name from her digging around in the TARDIS earlier in the season: she even started remembering their fight about how she could've died twice

The Doctor said she'd forget all of that after they used the "big friendly button" and reset time to before the TARDIS gets yanked

but it appears she's remembering...

No we don't

or at least that scene in "The Wedding of River Song," he doesn't tell her his name

he tells her to look in his eye, so she knows he's inside the Teselecta suit

so how does she know it?

Because the Doctor remembers it, and she's linked to every moment of his timeline, therefor she remembers it.

What I didn't understand was this had almost nothing to do with the Silence prophecy. The question that must never be answered? The Doctor can't lie? Fall of the 11th? It didn't seem like that major of a moment. The Doctor didn't answer the question but it was answered anyway, so what good did his silence do? I'm thinking it has something to do with John Hurt since he is "pre-Doctor" and therefor goes by his original name.

When the Doctor is dying, he calls River over and whispers something to her. She looks at him and then says "I'm sure she already knows"

Being that the Doctor knew he at some point would tell River his name and he thought he was dying, it makes sense

Hmm, an interesting idea. I hadn't considered it, but then again I don't think I really considered what he told her. Maybe the next ep will flashback to that point and show us exactly what he said since it was never officially revealed. But that would make sense that's when he told her.

I like that they picked an actor who has already been in an episode of Doctor Who. Would be funny if they wrote an episode showing he was actually the Doctor in that episode too.
