"I don't know that Romney is ever going to withdraw that money"

he, or his beneficiary if he dies, is forced to withdraw and pay the subsequent taxes on every dime of that in a specific time frame.

look, i don't even like the guy, but I'm not gonna blame him for not handing out a $100 bill to everyone he passes on the street.

BridgetSPK So your argument to being called out for having no idea what the fuck you're talking about is to belittle someone who is actually educated on the topic that you're trying to argue about?

You'd make a great republican.

^^^^Perhaps we have miscommunicated. Because I also don't really "blame" the guy for avoiding taxes when it is totally legal for him to do so...I know plenty of people in all sorts of positions who take advantage of loopholes, and I don't resent them for it.

But...do you think the current tax code is equitable?

^^^You don't need to understand the intricacies of the system to know when something is unethical or wrong, when something needs changing. I don't know how to change it, and I'd have to go back to school or something to really understand it. But it's unfair to set up a system that is so complicated that when a regular person objects to it, then the ranks close and it's like, "Oh, you're a rube. You don't get it. Just be grateful for your job and deal with it."

And I'm the truest rube. I like living on very little money--it feels righteous to me personally. But there's other people who aspire to more, and I don't feel comfortable telling them to suck it up and deal with what they're given when extraordinarily wealthy people don't even pay taxes. It's a problem. Do you agree or no?

In the age of the fucking Internet, this is the LAMEST excuse to argue from an ill-informed position. Take 20 minutes and READ SOMETHING.

Quote :
"It's a problem. Do you agree or no?"

i disagree with all of your false premises. There are certain changes that I believe could be made to incentivize the wealthy to invest money in activities that contribute to economic output rather than passive income, but the premise that people should be taxed solely on the basis of "he has more than someone else" is crap.

now go read a book, and educate yourself so you'll stop looking like a retarded middle school girl.

^It's not a "middle school girl" thing to wonder how somebody was able to squeeze $20+ million into an account that was designed to take $30,000/year. Yes, you can expect personal stocks to grow...but to the tune of 20-100 million? Really? Was Mitt Romney born lucky...like not just born a very wealthy boy but also one of the luckiest men ever?

And as long as you're accusing me of false premises, I'll begin the rebuttal by asserting that I never said someone who makes more money should have to pay more than someone else. I am very open-minded about all this stuff. But, what's so offensive, is the people who hold large sums of money without paying taxes and then, for whatever reason, we all have to build our tax code around them because they are "job creators" when they don't actually create any jobs. This is insanity, and you know it.

Furthermore, while I am very open-minded, I do have my limits. And I suspect (or at least hope) you have your limits too. I would be very troubled to learn that you thought it was cool for some guy to get 30 million extra dollars in a year and not pay taxes on it...

dumb list is dumb.

especially the ones about him changing his opinion. now, I don't know if he actually did, or was just pandering, but what's wrong with changing your opinion? everyone does as they become more educated and experienced.

I've changed my opinion on several political issues... does that mean I'd be a bad politician?

So, if you think Obama lies you're now automatically a racist? WTF is wrong with you? Are you so blinded as to think a black president could not lie?

Yeah, an old article from an unnamed source. Thats real credibility right there.
And the CIA is known for its openness.
Closed a unit.... open another or had a few others already open.
You really think the CIA stopped looking for him?

Oh, whoops, I missed Eaton Bush's ignorant ass contributions. Oh boy, this is more enlightening than an argument about titty tanning between cast members of Jersey Shore

Ah there ya go.
They closed a unit. They didn't close all units.
Quote :
"Agency officials said that tracking Mr. bin Laden and his deputies remained a high priority, and that the decision to disband the unit was not a sign that the effort had slackened. "

Quote :
""There are still people who wake up every day with the job of trying to find bin Laden.""

In addition to the CIA, the US military and every other US 3 letter agency you can think of was looking UBL.

In any case the dude is dead and Obama was able to waltz in and take the credit for the work of not only the Navy SEAL but thousands of others got them there.

Any person sitting as president would have made the same call.

""If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf won't act, we will," Obama said.

Romney, the former Massachusetts governor who is one of the Republican front-runners, said U.S. troops "shouldn't be sent all over the world." He called Obama's comments "ill-timed" and "ill-considered.""

And they are both right.
But we did move heavan and earth and spend billions

What is also interesting is with Obama as President we now have:
- More war, not less. We are still in Afg and we went in to Libya and now we are poising for war with Syria, Iran and someone in SE Asia.
- We have alienated our allies and embraced our enemies.
- Guantanamo is still open and is bigger, not smaller
- The gov't has less transparency, not more
- Fuel prices have "necessarily skyrocketed"... oh, wait, he kept that promise.

Yeah, we all know the tax systems sucks.
He didn't build the tax system.

Because Romney has been a very successful businessman he is able to largely live of the money he already made and was taxed on. None of the money he has earned in the past 2 years came from wages. Instead, the Romneys earn their money from capital gains from a profusion of investments, as well as stock dividends and interest payments.

-Romney gave away $7 million in charitable contributions over the past two years.
-Romney paid an estimated $6.2 million in federal income taxes. According to his 2010 return, Romney paid about $3 million to the IRS.

That is a lot of money. If you made as much money as Romney I bet you'd look for as many ways as you can to keep what you made. Especially when you can see how the gov't waste money. The return on investment sux.

Has Obama ever paid that much in taxes?
Has Obama ever given that much to charity?

^ How is any of that relevant to this election year?

I like Pryderi. He actually puts effort and thought behind what he says.
Any douche bag can post shit like:
Quote :
"Oh hey, here's pryderi vomiting his worthless opinion into another thread

Oh, whoops, I missed Eaton Bush's ignorant ass contributions. Oh boy, this is more enlightening than an argument about titty tanning between cast members of Jersey Shore"

Although I disagree with Pryderi most of the time. There is no smoking gun that he is going to reveal that will make me vote for Obama and I will vote for the best alternative to Obama. That alternative is Romney.

Besides, he posts some awesome Tits and ass pics. Gotta like that!!

We have an exit date for Afghanistan, and our actions in Libya was to protect civilians and was supported by the UN

Quote :
"Libya: UN backs action against Colonel Gaddafi

The UN Security Council has backed a no-fly zone over Libya and "all necessary measures" to protect civilians short of an occupation."

Can you provide some evidence of countries we're "posing for war" with?

Quote :
"- We have alienated our allies and embraced our enemies."

Examples?

Quote :
"- Guantanamo is still open and is bigger, not smaller"

Congress won't let President Obama close Gitmo.

Quote :
"Congress has used its spending oversight authority both to forbid the White House from financing trials of Guantánamo captives on U.S. soil and to block the acquisition of a state prison in Illinois to hold captives currently held in Cuba who would not be put on trial -- a sort of Guantánamo North. The current defense bill now before Congress not only reinforces these restrictions but moves to mandate military detention for most future al Qaeda cases unless the president signs a waiver. The White House withdrew a veto threat on the eve of likely passage Wednesday, saying the latest language gives the executive enough wiggle room to avoid military custody."

http://www.foreignaffairs.com/articles/136781/carol-rosenberg/why-obama-cant-close-guantanamo

Also, Guantanamo has fewer detainees now than when President Obama took office:

Quote :
"242 detainees at Gitmo when Obama took office
171 detainees still held at Guantánamo Bay"

Alright, now this is what chit chat is all about. Now if we could just get pryderi to take Romney's balls out of his mouth and say something entertaining for once in his posting career this thread would have a prayer

I can only imagine how elitist President Obama would be portrayed by the media if he had dancing dressage horse named "Rafalca" and wrote off $77,000 from his taxes for owning it.

Anyone remember the shit Kerry took for this?
