I know it wasn't announced that Julia Stiles would be a guest this season, but they managed to keep Rita's death low-profile too so I wonder now if Lumen makes a return this season. 11/7/2012 10:54:35 AM |

Kind of a ho-hum mid-season episode, there's always one every season of Dexter and this was it. There's five episodes left and I haven't a clue where it will end up aside from Cirko getting offed.
Finally LaGuerta starts to suspect Dexter, probably the biggest two seconds of the whole episode.
Dexter finally mentioned Lila. I don't know how carefully ya'll are watching but every major character from the past has been brought up this season except Miguel Prado (Brian/Rudy, Doakes, Lila, Trinity, Rita, Lundy, Lumen, Jordan Chase, Travis Marshall). I can't help but wonder if that's where LaGuerta cracks the Dexter case open, there's gotta be some loose ends with Sil or Ramon or George King. It would be even more ironic seeing as how Dexter put LaGuerta's photo beside Miguel in the kill room. And did Quinn essentially just pay off Battista to leave Miami Metro to start his restaurant?
Last but not least Nadia has nice boobies. That is all the analysis I have for one episode. 11/12/2012 2:27:29 AM |

I'm not quite sure I understood that scene. I mean, i got that it raised suspicion in her. But why? I watched it a couple of times to see what was on the list exactly, and it was list of a bunch of police staff (several recognizable names). There were checks next to some of the names (including Dexter's), but I'm not sure why.11/12/2012 12:12:12 PM |
RattlerRyan All American 8660 Posts user info edit post |
The list was of county boat registrations. In season 2 Lundy used the algae on the rocks from the body bags to trace the bay harbor butcher's boat to the marina that Dexter uses. The list probably had lots of cops on it because it's one of the few places that cops could afford (hence the crappy security). LaGuerta must be looking that back over and raised an eyebrow when she saw Dexter's name. Now that I think about it, if she goes back and looks at the recordings she might notice the segment of tape missing that Dexter deleted when he pulled the fire alarm. 11/12/2012 1:53:48 PM |
duro982 All American 3088 Posts user info edit post |
^ yeah, I remember the algae thing now that you mention it. I thought I saw Musuka's (sp?) name on the list and some others. But I guess it wouldn't be crazy for them to both have boats at the same marina.
Damn.. how did you know what the list was? Did I miss something or did you just remember it from season 2? 11/12/2012 2:01:38 PM |

They're worth checking out. I actually watched seasons 1 and 2 on hulu or netflix several years back. "got a hold" of season 3, and I think I started watching season 4 live. It may have been season 5... don't remember. 11/12/2012 2:39:53 PM |

I was reading an episode review on this site http://www.televisionwithoutpity.com/show/dexter/chemistry-1.php?grade= and it explained what the list was, otherwise I wouldn't have known either. I'll go back and look carefully tonight, it was such a quick scene I don't remember if there was a heading on the page or not. I also didn't notice Masuka's name on the list. I don't recall him ever talking about a boat before.
On a random side note since we're talking about Masuka, I love how there was only one time in the whole show that they did an episode story-arc on him and it just involved him getting his feelings hurt by Quinn and the department when nobody cared about his journal article and he pouted around in a suit until Battista the gang talked him up in a meeting.
And for those that haven't seen the show from the start, I highly recommend going back to the beginning. This season especially is building on the first two seasons and will make a lot more sense and seem a lot more clever if you do that. If you're bored and have all the episodes downloaded, it's really awesome to start with the season one finale and watch all the other following finales back-to-back. It's mind-boggling how seamlessly the show has developed over the years. 11/12/2012 3:39:33 PM |

I think getting the approval from his sister to go kill was the turning point of the season. Going to really question his code even more now and just ironic since she was an arm's length away from getting the call.
Its going to be interesting how they are going to tie everything at the end of the season with so much going on at the same time. Seems as thought Dexter is trying to plug one hole and two more jumps up. Definitely going to be a blood bath.
When Quinn was confronting the dude in the club, I was envisioning Quinn going all Jack Bauer taking the Brotherhood out in full black body armour and assaults the club before slipping out the back and getting out of the country with his stripper girl friend... lol I mean you could see it in his eyes. 11/13/2012 1:08:53 PM |

I think i'm the only person who's not bothered by that sub-plot. Not that i'm not "bothered" by it in that I don't think it's odd or perverted (the literal definition), but I don't mind it in the show.
Part of me actually hopes they hook up. And then the full story is about a a boy who was believed to be a killer by his adoptive, cop father. So said father taught him who to kill and how to kill them and gave him rules to kill by. He grew up to be that serial killer and works for the police, finds his victims through his work for the police, kills them in a ritualistic fashion, cuts them up, and dumps their bodies. He's had face-offs with other serial killers, has led fellow police staff to their deaths, helped a young girl become a killer, is currently dating a serial killer, and may cheat on her with his adoptive sister who is his police boss and has been covering things up for him (perhaps more so because she's in love with him than because he's her adoptive brother)... oh, and she has now embraced what he does and is advocating for him to do it.
And the final scene of the series is Dexter walking into his apartment (just after getting away with killing Laguerta probably), and he tosses his keys down with that Dexter smirk on his face as the theme music starts to fade in. Leaving the audience to think that this is how the series will end... Dexter just continuing to be Dexter. And then... "Surprise motha fuckas! After 8years, this shit is over!" --- Doaks jumps out from behind Dexter's door and breaks the 4th wall as he says that line while looking directly into the camera. And then he turns and shoots Dexter dead.
At least, that's how I'd write it. 11/20/2012 2:00:22 AM |

C'mon Smath74, this show is pretty ridiculous overall. An even more ridiculous ending would be awesome.
Seriously though, they have the opportunity to get very dark. And while the content of the show is "dark" in general, there has been a somewhat "light" tone at times (more so in past seasons than this season). I'd prefer for the tone to get darker to match the content a little more.11/20/2012 1:02:33 PM |

I too thought it was an awesome scene. I just love the fact that Isaak keeps pulling bits of pieces together that Dexter is just not some random person who did his first kill, then all of a sudden he feels as though he has met his match or monster. Isaak is now in the "nothing to loose" category.
Also, anyone else randomly yells every time Isaak is shown "Titus Pullo!!!". It just seems like a good drinking game. I'm waiting for Mark Anthony to make a guest appearance... lol11/20/2012 7:49:48 PM |

I, too, liked the scene with him and Dexter. I think all of their one-on-one scenes together have been good. The introduction in the strip club was good, albeit low-key. The one at the cafe where Dexter told him how he killed Victor was awesome. Dexter's dark side really came out in that conversation. And this last one was really good. 11/20/2012 8:37:38 PM |
