This is absolutely correct! We should do everything reasonable to prevent these situations. I find guns to be a very unreasonable solution to any problem and would favor legislation that banned them. We should ban guns, have the government swoop into every house and building in America, confiscate all the guns and ammo, stockpile them, allow the police to grab as needed, and then come bust down our doors, shoot our dogs, murder our fathers, and go on paid vacation all because the dumbasses went to the wrong door.
