I just want to elect somebody who has the power to exterminate Fox News. I don't think Romney would be the end of the world.

I'm not scared of Romney like I'm scared of George W. Bush. Romney is just a filthy rich mouth piece for conservatives. However, there was a stint where Obama was getting kicked around by republicans in the senate.

I do plan on voting for Obama. I'll prolly pull the big "D" lever for each candidate I can vote for.

Eaton Bush, write-in votes for a presidential candidate won't count unless that candidate has write-in status; for example, if I attempt to write in a vote for a Presidential candidate, it won't count, while in your state, if nothing ballot-access related changes, the only write-in options are Virgil "not so" Goode and (new one) Jill Stein.
Quote :
"So the argument that a republican president is incapable of picking an unbiased Justice is a poor one."
It's not that they can't pick a neutral Justice, it's just that they don't want to (the Democrats are like this too, but more successful because the academically-minded types who end up being judges tend to be liberal, in fact the Justices, except the most recent partisan-vetted picks, have tended to become more liberal over their careers).

EDIT: Wow, things change quickly...turns out there are 6 write-in choices in Ohio, all Independent.

I don't trust Obama, I think that he IS trying to knock the US down a few rungs in order boost 3rd world countries. Just follow the money."

no shit they aren't relevant, but you sound like a conspiracy theorist with the way you're using conjecture to support your narrative and then saying "check the facts," because you know better. i just decided i don't care enough to derail the thread, so carry on.

I don't know better so I read and research and don't take the word of the first source I come across.
Check their sources and make sure everyone isn't using the same source. I just look at everything with a skeptical eye and have found that combined with applying Occam's razor usually yields good results.

I have said many times that I am voting for Romney more to get Obama out of office. Even though I think Romney will be a fine President I know there are others out there that would be an even better President. However, those better people won't run and who can blame them. Look at all the shit they get put through.

it was more the use of "why do you think [this]? why do you think [that]?" to support a claim that obama is trying to boost 3rd world countries at the expense of the US when you just cherry picked a bunch of questions that don't have answers as cut and dry as you're attempting to make them seem through the use of your rhetoric. the conclusion you're reaching there is just as dubious as your questions. people should be skeptical, but skepticism needs to be met with rationality, and what i quoted from you just does not seem rational.

while i did respond with snark and hyperbole, seriously? you're implying that the answers to your questions are rational enough to support your hypothesis that obama is trying to boost 3rd world countries at our expense. when i can look at those questions and know that the answers are not nearly as simple as you are making them out to be through the use of your language, the conclusion being reached here cannot be rational.

So if these policies come at the cost of a huge tax hike that eventually lead to societal collapse ala France, no we will not be better off. No matter how many people are not denied health coverage.

^^^ Banning denying of coverage for pre-existing conditions is fundamentally contrary to how insurance works.

That could have been fixed by restructuring the tax code so as to stop encouraging employers from providing health insurance. Employer-based healthcare is stupid. Then, everyone could buy a healthcare policy, just like they'd have an auto/renter/homeowner's/etc policy, and when they changed jobs, they wouldn't be fucked if they'd developed a medical condition.

If you can't bring yourself to vote for a winning candidate, voting for a 3rd party isn't a wasted vote. In many cases 3rd parties struggle to stay on the ballot requiring ridiculous signature requirements (which are often expensive to make happen) or high thresholds for performance in a previous election.

I've already made my case for why I'm voting for President Obama on page 2, but a 3rd party vote is not a wasted one, at least relative to someone who is not even running, since it helps 3rd parties stay on the ballot in future elections.

3rd parties don't need to win--my (L) votes are to voice dissatisfaction with the GOP that abstention or write-ins just don't accomplish.

If the GOP fields a good candidate, I will vote for him. If the GOP runs a social conservative/big-spender/statist and the LP runs a kook, I just write-in "no confidence", as I won't encourage that behavior for either party. If the GOP runs a bad candidate and the LP runs a good one, then I vote (L).

That last scenario is what I feel like we have this year with Gary Johnson.

^ I would yield to the realities of the 2-party system in the case of a tolerable GOP candidate, even if there was a (L) that I liked a little better. However, I have decided that on a scale of -10 to +10, a candidate has to be at least a "0" for me to vote for him.

Romney.

Because I have a lot of money and I hate the bible.

I also hate the poor, underachievers, and the downtrodden in general.

I hate old people too so if they get fucked on medicare I'll be vastly amused.

I can also relate to his social awkwardness and failed attempt at liking Nascar; happens to me daily.

I despise Obama because of his naivety. He knew the mess he was getting into and ran on the platform of fixing it. He could have done much worse of course, but what we're seeing today is far from what he promised.

That doesn't necessarily make him a liar, just an unrealistic idiot. At least with Romney you know exactly what you're getting; a rich jerk that thinks exactly as I do (see top of post).

I don't like politicians that keep me guessing; I judged Obama correctly the first time I ever heard him speak. That's all I need to know-

mr frog,
from what I gather ....
Ballot access laws make fees that make it difficult for 3rd parties to appear on ballots in many states

debates in other state and federal elections often exclude Independent and third party candidates, and the Supreme Court has upheld such tactics in several cases. The commission on presidential debates (CPD), and therefore can use their own discretion when selecting which candidates participate, these debates are important for candidates, and 3rd parties usually get left out. Perot was in the debates supposedly due to Bush's request ?

anyway, there are plenty of ways for the big guns to minimize potential threats.

here is info on the 1992 election that had Perot

I'll probably turn in a Libertarian ballot again. I even voted for Libertarian in the primaries in spite of my friend's protests that I should have used my vote for Ron Paul. I think the RNC justifies my decision.
