I also work in a lab and am in school...so my school scrubs double as lab clothing if I feel like it. We get to wear whatever we want, but I try to dress a little more grown-up...minimum jeans, a dressier casual shoe, button down shirts and cardigans.

The bf....he's a computer engineer in academia. I consider it a good day when he wears a non-wrinkled shirt and non-camo pants to work.

Brook Brothers during their 30% "Friends and Family" sale might be a good option. Not the cheapest stuff though.

I think even Kohls has clothes for slim people, at least from a waist perspective. If you're looking for slim type fits where you don't feel like you're wearing slacks that are approved by MC Hammer, you're right, Kohls is lacking in that department. Most of their slacks have a relaxed fit to them, offering plenty of space in seat and thigh. I have noticed that the Marc Anthony line (someone thought it would be a good idea to make clothes approved by him..?) tends to favor slim figures and cuts. Apt 9 and Axist also trend to the "younger" type that would favor those styles.

^^ yep, those are pretty much the only brands I even look at at Kohls I am not a Marc Anthony fan at all but his shirts fit me perfectly. No tailoring needed and at that price they are good.

^^^ yeah they're not bad. I've gotten some from them before. Banana Republic outlet somewhat near me has some very good deals sometimes and I have been a fan of their dress pants.

JC Penny was having a big sale on cheap polos a few days ago, but the good sizes/colors were mostly gone.

But it's back on at Kohl's with plenty of sizes still available:

You got an extra 15% off with code SHOPGIFTS. So they come up to between $5-$10, which is about how much they're actually worth.

Jeans and T-Shirts are a-ok at my place. Mostly I wear Polos though, but I do rock the jeans a lot of the time.
