Yep the nuggets got Karl'd last night.

Their best player played 17 minutes while Jordan Hamilton, Evan Fournier, Wilson Chandler, and Corey Brewer played a combined 71. Unreal.

Agreed on league pass. I'd rank the teams in this order.

Must: OKC & LAKERS.

Should: NUGGETS

Interesting: knicks & rockets.

Can't think of anyone else interesting enough to unseat those five. Possibly Chicago if rose was healthy. The clippers sorta bore me honestly. Miami too many blowouts and cruise control games.

I don't I love lebron. They play a lot of blowouts and win too many regular season games easily.

Plus In the regular season I'd rather watch a more exciting offensive team like Denver or OKC

Interesting that Harden was amazing without Westbrook but that Westbrook has been miserable without Harden so far.

That doesn't really fit the narrative does it?

no, not the dominant, national narrative. i'm not sure there's any field where the Media's most dominant narrative isn't typically horeshit. praise the Internet.

is it universally accepted that Reggie Miller sucks as an analyst?

not only is Barkley the best personality, he's also seemingly become the most astute/least reactionary NBA tv analyst.

Chris Webber is fantastic and he makes Shaq's ineptitude all the more glaring. the fact that the show is still great despite Shaq's generic, forced personality weighing them down is a testament to the greatness of, and chemistry between, Ernie/Kenny/Charles. if they replaced him permanently with Chris Webber, it'd be one of the best shows on tv.

harden with 45 points his 2nd game, in a win over the rebuilding hawks

solid fg% but a lot of bailout foul calls and a horrendous assist:turnover ratio

another week or two and his knees will buckle from the extra minutes per game

if they would have traded Westbrook for Rondo, which i read rumored some season ago, and kept Harden, that team wins the West.

They won the west last year with westbrook and harden.

Also fitting that Houston got Lin and Harden since Houston's management is a big user of basketball analytics, and those guys are high value guys in advanced basketball analyses.

I highly recommend watching Open Court on NBAtv, especially the episode on front courts

Of course they should have traded westbrook over harden. I've been saying that for two years.

Very simple point. You never trade a superstar who is just entering his prime.

Harden is actually a steal at the max salary whereas westbrook is way over paid as an above average pg.

OKC really screwed themselves.

Let the season play out. They are still learning to play without him. Westbrook had a great game last night also.

Point guards like Westbrook are rare. Above average shooting guards are a dime a dozen (I'm aware he's better than "above average"...I'm just saying that he's easier to replace).

Harden was a steal at his old salary before he was traded, but everyone knows he was going to sign a huge deal by the end of the year... If they traded Westbrook, who's to say they wouldn't have to sign Harden to essentially the same deal Westbrook had?

You make it sound like Harden is a young gun and Westbrook is some old fart... They both are 23. Lets wait a month before saying OKC traded the wrong player.

Actually sg is significantly more rare than pg. The league has 20 good pg right now and only a handful of good sg.

Good sg under 25? Only harden and George really.

OKC messed up big time, theres no need to let the season play out we've got several seasons worth of data.

They could've just dropped Perkins sorry ass and no one would've noticed bc they're at their best with westbrook, harden, sefolosha, durant, ibaka lineup anyway.

Plus with aldrich, collison, and thabeet they had plenty of solid big man depth

So you think Harden is even better than Westbrook?
He reminds me of Tmac. After transferring to Magic, he showed his talent finally. He didn't live under the shadow of VC anymore.

Westbrook is debatably a top 15 PG.

Top 15 player overall is not debate worthy.

Let me know when he figures out how to make shots, get assists, or stop leading the league in turnovers.

I've never seen such irrational opinions around one player.

Okay newsflash.

Westbrook has low assists and high turnovers. He doesnt make many of the shots he takes.

If you honestly believe he's a great player you are nuts.

He makes some incredible plays occasionally and can be fun to watch, but I think we should hold him to the same standards that we hold every other player in the league to. In order to be considered a great player, you should have to produce.

ugh, brandon rush out for the year with a torn ACL. Warriors werent making the playoffs anyway, but hate to see any stars go down this early in the year.

The one bright spot is that Harrison barnes will get even more minutes he's not ready for.

While Rose is certainly overrated (worst MVP in NBA history?) he is clearly better than Westbrook.

Did you guys miss the regular season last year? Westbrook had a really rough year. How about the playoffs two years ago when he submarined OKC?

Opinions are cool and everything, but NBA is not the place to have them when they're completely unsubstantiated.

But Rose has had so many injuries already. When Grant Hill first came to the league, ppl considered him as the Jordan's successor. But injuries ruined his career. On the contrary, Westbrook keeps healthy and plays better and better.

^^^^ there are no "you guys" just one guy and it's really just a waste of keystrokes arguing with him.

League Pass is on a preview but I'm selecting Knicks, Lakers, Nuggets, OKC and then one more. Deciding still. Probably should be Eastern Conference though. Part of me wants to do Nets just to see..

^^ because i'm right. Westbrook doesn't sniff the elite PG territory. The guy simply hasn't become a good PG yet.

I'm not saying he can't become one. But you guys are just arguing falsehoods. It's annoying how unable you are to see through ESPN's hype machine.

Here look at some fucking analysis you chimps. Grow up most of you are 30. Stop pretending you know who the best players are based on who had the coolest poster on SLAM magazine. We've already been through these ridiculous arguments with Carmelo Anthony and Kobe Bryant.

Here's a comparison between Lawson and Westbrook last season.

Quote :
"Alright, so quick tally. Westbrook has more bad games than Lawson by a wide margin (31 to 21) He slightly edges him in the 0.0 to 5.0 range (20-23) but then loses 20-12 when it comes to truly great games. What’s more Lawson had just as many top games as Westbrook.

Now here’s the real kicker behind all of this. When Lawson played poorly, the Nuggets lost. When Westbrook played poorly, the Thunder won! In games Lawson played below average, the Nuggets went 6-15. In games when Westbrook played terribly the Thunder went 17-14. (And that means roughly 1/3 of Lawson’s games fell in the below average territory as compared to roughly 1/2 of Westbrook’s).

Dean Oliver summed up how MVP voting happens “Top scorer on a winning team.” Now, we can pretend the formula is more complicated. I wish it were. The reason Westbrook is considered great is he scores a lot of points on a winning team. Does he have a lot of ability? Sure, but unless it translates into wins, it is not useful! Westbrook has taken whatever amazing skills he has and turned himself into an average player that shoots a lot. Luckily, he’s a on team where this type of behavior is rewarded.

The simple fact is the perceived difference between Lawson and Westbrook entirely breaks down to the team they play on. I’ll note that the Nuggets and Thunder only differed in Offensive Rating (points scored per 100 possesions) by 0.6 points. You are welcome to choose whichever of the following explanations you want to explain it.

1. Lawson is better, especially in the areas of offense, than Westbrook.

2. Westbrook is much better than Ty Lawson and therefore Arron Afflalo, Danilo Gallinari, Al Harrington and Nene/JaVale McGee are better than James Harden, Kevin Durant, Serge Ibaka and Kendrick Perkins when it comes to offense."

You guys are arguing point #2, I am arguing point #1. I am right, and you are not. Danilo gallinari is NOT better than Kevin Durant no matter how many times you say he is.

Rolling. 2-0 with a blowout win over Miami and Philly. They really need someone to Tonya Harding his knee before he comes back and breaks the momentum.
