True, but down here in the coastal areas, it is required by code that all non-load bearing walls in homes are "break away walls". Meaning there is not electrical wires or plumbing in them. This allows the interior walls of the homes to wash out and results in much less surface area for flood waters to push against. Therefore reducing the chance that a home can be washed off its foundation.

New England coastal areas aren't used to flooding like we are and I highly doubt that most of their homes are built to withstand the flood waters. They also have more rocky hills/mountains in coastal areas resulting in mud slides. Shit could get real bad up there.
