^^^ Calling out corruption in the LAPD. He may be a madman, but he has some plausible discrepancies with them. If he dies I think you'll see this matter turn into a conspiracy theory about silencing those issues.
If they take him alive, at least there will be some answers to questions. Also, I think the LAPD will treat him almost like Hannibal Lecter. He's target has been law enforcment, and for the rest of his life he'll be surrounded by cops, prison guards and the like.
